      • F-Gase

        from uhsless Added 5,258 344 8

Have you ever heard about F-Gases? Me neither! You can find them in A/C's, fire extinguishers, aerosol cans and freezers and even if you can't really see them, they are a huge menace for our climate. Scientists say, that if we won't switch to more ecofriendly solutions (which are – of course – already available) up to 20% of the greenhouse gas emissions will come from F-Gases by 2050. But the DUH (= Deutsche Umwelthilfe = German Environment Aid) is doing something against it! To help spread the word about this topic, that rarely gets our attention (»F-Gases?!«), they asked me to design and animate a short film, about the problem. Unfortunately there is just a German version of it yet. But you will get an idea about the problem just by watching the fast-moving, colorful images. • TIME WRITER 1.0

from Olivier van Herpt Added 32.3K 137 7

How could one use technology to bring grafitti into the current age? With Time Writer I used software that was able to output vectors. These vectors could form words. A person would then just have to type their message. Then an array of spray nozzles supported by electronics and pumps would spray out the text while the painter walked by his canvas. Digital grafitti. Digital input becomes analog through software and machinery. In a sense Time Writer democratizes graffitti by letting anyone apply their message quickly and efficiently to a surface without the need of prior training. A wall design set in a night club created for the world-famous brand Jägermeister. Linking the brand’s and club’s identity, an individual artwork was created, covering an area of 30sqm with mixed techniques ranging from pasting to spraying to street-art styled fly-postering. The general concept was to reflect upon typical club behaviour, while at the same time creating a timeless look somewhere in between decoration and promotion.

___ We put discussions in motion. The spot for the Linden-Nord neighbourhood initiative was created as part of a civic campaign against night-time riots and damage to property in the Linden-Nord district of Hanover. We asked ourselves: At what point is the tolerance of neighbouring residents exhausted? Who is entitled to complain, and who isn't? As an impetus for these questions, we created a polarising film which encourages people to question their reality. Within a few days, the film was viewed more than 20,000 times and triggered heated discussions of this issue on the street and in regional media.
