      ST. GEORGE, Utah - + Video – Residents of St. George experienced a major summer storm late Friday afternoon causing some flash flooding. The thunderstorm moved in quickly around 4:30 p.m. dropping temperatures from 105 degrees down to around 78. According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City the July 3rd storm brought 0.72 inches of precipitation. As the clouds opened up mother nature released hail in the north part of the city and large raindrops in the south. Flash flooding carried heavy streams of red dirt and debris from hillsides, dumping the remains onto lower lying streets. It was a major gully washer on Bluff street in St. George as travelers were forced to drive through water up to three inches deep or more. It was reported that one accident was related to that storm. Clean-up crews could still be seen cleaning up debris and sweeping the streets around 7:00 p.m.

          Like a horizontal landslide, a river of floating hail and debris flows through an orchard and across a road during a flash flood near Coyanosa, Texas. This video was taken following a massive hail storm on the afternoon of May 18, 2015. This was very disorienting experience. My eyes were telling me that the car from which this was filmed was moving, even though it was actually motionless.

                      St. George residents began setting sandbags Sunday and city workers were checking storm drains to make sure they were free of debris in preparation of heavy rain forecasts as moisture associated with Tropical Storm Norbert near Baja, California was expected to arrive in Southern Utah Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service. The significant moisture surge in Southern Utah prompted a flash flood watch from Sunday through Tuesday (September 7 through September 9) evening. With a prolonged period of moderate to heavy rainfall and embedded thunderstorms expected to produce widespread rain amounts of 1-3 inches and up to 5 inches of rain in some areas.
