Is England a nation of gardeners? The documentary “I Love My Garden” agrees to this question and makes an attempt to portrait the special relationship between the English and their gardens. Garden designer Adrian and his business partner Ian from Leeds are the documentary’s main protagonists. The film follows their attempt to build their first ever show garden at the Harrogate Flower Show. While they battle against the elements and try to finish their garden in time, the documentary meets Geoff, Marie and Marianne. All three are passionate gardeners. Marianne is an allotment holder and volunteer gardener at the York cemetery, Geoff and Marie are members of the garden team at Hardwick Hall. Supported with interviews of garden experts the documentary allows the audience to catch a glimpse of the English passion for gardening.

The Philadelphia Flower Show (PHS) excels again with innovative staging, brilliant gardens, great vendors and fun. Hugh Dargan, landscape architect, and I've judged landscape, conservation/education exhibits and lectured there many, many times and could not enjoy the experience more. This video elaborates our thoughts on the general show experience as well as merits and underpinnings of various exhibits. New this year was the Organic Gardening "Food Studio" featuring chefs sharing techniques round the clock. Thanks to Ethne Clarke, editor of OG, and the OG crew for providing this grand value-added think tank. On a personal note, Cousin Scott led us to VEDGE, a fantastic vegetarian fine-dining establishment at 1121 Locust Street close by the Philadelphia Convention Center. The husband and wife team of Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby give a demonstration this Saturday. Oh la la. Superb! This video blog was sorted on the plane last night while returning to Atlanta, voice-overed in a spare moment before work this am and now posted. Individual tropical orchids were just what you want to see on a gray day...or any day! I wish we could have included the Hamilton Horticourt's spectacular flowers (next year we will take a better camera). Loved the glass terrariums & wardian houses. The Hamilton collection of topiaries is always a show-stopper. Even featured one of her pet 4- tier forms in my recent book, Lifelong Landscape Design.
