1. The Valley 2 - A cinematic short

    from Nicolas Gaillard Added 46 4 0

I don't have much time to produce content these days because of my studies, but here is what I came up with a few days at Serre Chevalier Valley. I took advantage of both the sh**** weather and the bluebird days to try to make a cinematic video. This was shot on a Nikon D3300 on a cheap tripod + a flying potato. Graded with M31 lut + filmconvert Enjoy :)

      • Cine Gear 2015: OConnor 2560 Ultimate Fluid Head

        from AbelCine Added 127 2 0

One of the big announcements from Cine Gear 2015 was OConnor's new 2560 fluid head. The 2560 replaces the popular 2065, and joins the 2575 and 1030 as top-of-the-line fluid heads for cinema use. The advantage of the 2560 is that it's significantly smaller and lighter than the 2065 - almost seven pounds lighter in fact. Yet it still maintains the weight capacity of its predecessor, making it an excellent mid-range tripod head. The new OConnor 2560 is shipping now. Make sure to look for it in our showrooms in the near future! To see the full post, visit our blog: http://blog.abelcine.com/2015/06/11/oconnors-new-2560-fluid-head/

            • At the Bench: Sachtler SpeedLevel Clamp

              from AbelCine Added 148 5 0

Sachtler recently introduced the SpeedLevel Clamp for its 100mm ball level heads. The unit ties down in typical fashion, however the two levers allow users to quickly reset the level for their camera. While shooting this video, the one thing that impressed me the most was the ease with which a level can be performed. This comes in especially handy in the middle of a take or when about to roll. Everyone has probably been faced with this problem at some point - since standard tie downs inherently require some force to loosen, that force gets transmitted to the camera and then to the screen. The SpeedLevel Clamp allows you to avoid this embarrassing problem; the levers can be oriented in any direction, making them easy to grab. In addition, the levers are easily operated when wearing gloves. Watch my video above to learn more about this quick and elegant solution to leveling your camera on the fly. • At the Bench: Exploring Sachtler's V18 & V20 Fluid Tripod Systems

                from AbelCine Added 408 6 0

The Sachtler Video 20 & Video 18 tripod systems have been the work horses of the industry for years. In my latest video, I will take you step by step through the components and technology that comprises these systems. Since both can be custom-tailored to your style of shooting, I will discuss multiple combinations of sticks and spreaders. I will also go over how to build your camera to get the most out of your tripod system. With so many features and a wide weight capacity range, it is fair to say that this could be the go-to tripod for all your camera systems from four to 55 pounds. Highlights and key features of Really Right Stuff's new FH-350 pro-grade fluid head. The FH-350 features a true sinusoidal counter balance system to perfectly balance up to 10lbs of camera equipment at any angle on the tilt axis. • Zacuto - NAB 2014

                      from ProductionHUB Added

An interview from the 2014 National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas with Jens Bogehegn of Zacuto. Zacuto is a company that makes a wide range of camera rigs and accessories designed for independent filmmakers, the Zacuto brand of camera accessories offer outstanding quality and support. In this interview Jens talks with us about a wide range of new products including the The Gratical LT & Gratical HD, Control Grip and Z-Motor, VCT Universal Baseplate, and introducing The Zacuto Fluid Head Tripods. The Gratical LT 1024×768 (16×9 1024×576 3.3M dots) and Gratical HD 1280×1024 (16×9 1280×720 HD 5.5M dots) are the new generation super high resolution Zacuto electronic viewfinders. The Gratical uses an extremely powerful FPGA dual core processor and the latest micro-OLED displays, giving a hugely expanded contrast range with true blacks. Razor sharp optics with -1 to +4 diopter range and the latest Zacuto formula anti-fog protection. Key features include HDMI and HD-SDI in/out (HDMI cross convert to SDI), waveform, vectorscope, histogram, LUTS and much more. Custom cables allowing Gratical to get the same on-screen info as the camera’s proprietary EVF. The Control Grip gives you start, stop and five programmable buttons for your cameras as well as a full menu control joystick. Custom cables will be available to control the Canon, Nikon, and Panasonic DSLRs, Sony F5/F55, ARRI Amira/Alexa, RED Epic/Scarlet, and Canon C-Series cameras. The Control Grip is fully self-powered with swappable LP-E6 batteries. Combine the Control Grip with the new Z-Motor attached to your lens to create a rocker style servo zoom lens similar to an ENG style lens. So now you can get control of your lens, placed where you need it for a fraction of the price of expensive large sensor ENG style lenses. You can make all your zoom lenses, from a stills zoom to a high-end cinema zoom, become precision servo zoom lenses with extensive camera control. It’s a whole new concept.. Zacuto is updating the VCT Baseplate for a whole new generation of cameras and filmmakers. Our new combination VCT Baseplate with built-in shoulder pad echos traditional ENG cameras but with a modern twist. Our sliding dovetail offers quick balance changes when swapping lenses for any camera set-up and the wide, gel shoulder pad will keep you comfortable all day long. Rods extend from the front of the plate and provide more open accessory rod space than any other VCT-style baseplate. Rods are adjustable up and down to make it universal with most cameras. The Z8 is a fluid head with two-stage aluminum tripod, with center spreader and rubber feet. The Z12 & Z18 are larger fluid heads with two-stage carbon fiber tripods, center spreaders and rubber feet. The Z8, Z12, and Z18 models are equipped with graded drag and counterbalance and can carry payloads of 14 lbs, 26 lbs, and 44 lbs respectively. Zacuto accessories allow for mounting a front box and eyepiece leveler using the Zacuto Axis. These are high-end tripods, reasonably priced with availability for pre-order soon.
