We recently had the opportunity to participate in the Wings of Freedom Tour by flying in a B-17 Heavy Bomber from the WWII era. I took this opportunity to shoot some video footage with my Sony FDR-AX100 4K camcorder. I've uploaded a 4K (Ultra HD) version in case someone wants to download it and play it in at full resolution. 4K Download is available from my Vimeo Channel. https://vimeo.com/carlosquintero The file was compressed with Apple Compressor from ProRes 444HQ. 4K playback is available from my YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/user/carlosq00?feature=mhee All the shots were done hand-held without image stabilization on while on the ground and with it turned on while flying. Additional stabilization using AE Warp Stabilizer was done in post. I shot the footage in cinema mode. When I took the footage into Premier Pro CC 2014, I had to make adjustments to the levels because the highlights were blown out. In all but one clip, I was able to recover the highlight details. Quick Facts about the aircraft from those who may be interested. As a retired aircraft mechanic, Roger has always loved airplanes. But he's never met one like her. She's a timeless symbol of World War II, and she's come to him for help. She's seen better days, and desperately needs his tender hands and passionate heart to help restore her to her former glory. This is the story of Roger Brigner, his love affair with "Belle," and the lasting legacy their relationship will leave behind. *********************************************************************** MSgt JT Lock, SrA Zach Lopez and I travelled to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, to shoot some TV news stories at the National Museum of the US Air Force. This piece is set in the restoration backshop, where a group made up almost entirely of volunteers is restoring what is perhaps the most famous plane in Air Force history. This was an amazing trip and a fantastic learning experience for all of us. We wanted to try a different style of storytelling than we were used to, drawing inspiration from many of the wonderful videos we've seen on Vimeo. Two videos in particular that really inspired me for this piece were Coffer (by Lost & Found Films) and Shinya Kimura @ Chabott Engineering (by Henrik Hansen). Also, pretty much everything by the folks at California is a Place. I hope you enjoy this piece, and I hope it sparks an interest for you in military history. I know working on it did for me. If you'd like to visit the Air Force Museum, you can take a virtual tour online at nationalmuseum.af.mil/virtualtour/index.asp Coffer: vimeo.com/28676720 Shinya Kimura: vimeo.com/13159991 California is a Place: vimeo.com/caisaplace NOTE: For some reason, on Vimeo this video is showing up a LOT darker on some shots than the original file I uploaded. Not sure why this is happening, but please feel free to download the original 1080p file for best quality.
