1. Sage CIRCA - Fly Fishing with Advanced, Slow-Action Performance.

    from Far Bank Added

If you're a devotee of the casting nuances of the slow action fly rod, a student of its historic ties to our sport, or just like the thrill of moving in close to actively feeding fish, consider the new CIRCA a reward for your years of dedication. But be warned: the CIRCA does not mimic the type of slow action that has so far defined the category - overly soft, willowy and flat. Instead, thanks to Konnetic technology's ability to compact and align more carbon fibers into a smaller diameter blank, we were able to design a radically narrow taper throughout the length of the rod, resulting in consistently slow, yet responsive action from butt to tip. The new CIRCA is a technologically advanced slow-action fly rod that honors your slower, more deliberate casting style, yet is every bit a Sage.

We let our friends Ben and Travis of Felt Soul Media poke around the factory for a couple days to see what they'd come up with. As usual, we were totally disappointed with the outcome and have encouraged them to "get a real job." We appreciate the effort guys, but it seems you can't even afford a camera that films in color. GH2 + SLR Magic 12mm 1.6 A short featuring Sara Roholt fly fishing for trout using two-handed or "spey" rods on the Missouri River, Montana in Dec. 2011. This type of fishing is most commonly associated with Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon fishing, but we find that it is extremely effective for trout on our river, especially during the winter months. You can learn more at http://www.headhuntersflyshop.com/wp Shot on an un-hacked Panasonic GH2 at 720 60p and edited in FCP X. -Hyperprime 12mm 1.6- The entire shoot was done with the new SLR Magic/Noktor Hyperprime 12mm f1.6 lens. This great lens gave this amateur a crash course in full manual video shooting. Once I got the hang of using the lens, I really liked it. It loves the subject close to the camera. Most segments were shot from 1.6 - 2.8, some to f4-8. You can see slight vignetting when wide open, but not bothersome to me. The wide angle and almost "macro" (less than 6") capabilities are perfect for the kind of shooting we do while fishing. "Time Lapse' sequences at beginning and end were shot using the GH2 300% feature. First time for that as well. Not amazing quality, but quick and easy. After a highly anticipated wait, Orvis has revealed their Helios 2 fly rod. It was pretty wild to see all the work (research, development, testing, etc.) that went into this rod, as the goal was to significantly improve upon the original Helios (something that many anglers thought wasn't possible). I got to fish one of these sticks last month and the buzz about this rod is no joke. It is awesome. I grabbed my camera, some of the Orvis guys grabbed a couple Helios 2's, and we went out and shot some fun salt and fresh water footage. More info can be found at www.orvis.com/H2.
