    My partner and I had three rules for this spot: 1. All of the injuries had to be real. No make up! 2. All of the injuries had to be done playing sport. 3. All of the scars had to be worse than the ones we had. Considering I have a 4 inch scar, the bar was set pretty high.

      This commercial was strictly a labor of love. There was no creative brief for this spot. We knew it was the 50th Anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier and thought it should be celebrated. Remarkably we took this spot to Nike and read it to them. To their credit, by the time I finished reading the last word, they said, "Go make it." In two weeks, we'd filmed 26 baseball legends and it was on the air. It's not often you can do an ad for one of your heroes. But to also get to shag baseballs off Tony Gwynn. To have Ernie Banks say, "Lets play two today." To shake hands with Dodgers legend Vin Scully, whose voice I listened to on a transistor radio under my pillow at nights as he called Dodger games. To shake hands with Buck O'Neil, a man who could never got to play, yet had not an ounce of bitterness in him...Like Lou Gehrig, I am truly a lucky man.

          This ad was created when the NBA locked out the players a few years ago, and there was no start to the basketball season. The entire campaign featured various celebrities who were forced to endure some not-so-FAN-tastic basketball. This commercial spoofs Spike Lee's ongoing fan/player exchanges with NBA great Reggie Miller. Without NBA basketball, Spike Lee takes to taunting, not Reggie Miller, but REGINA Miller, who plays 8th grade girls basketball against St. Ignatious grammar school.

            This piece was part of our special LeBronCenter episode on ESPN- an unprecedented takeover of Sportcenter in honor of LeBron James first game of the season. Everything from the lead-ins to the commercials were tailored for LeBron. Nike purchased all of the commercial time and to take advantage of it, we created special never before seen material. My favorite was a piece inspired by my brother Chris. It's a Director's Commentary version of a popular LeBrons commercial by director Stacy Wall.

            • Nike Plus Challenge :30

              This was created for the "Challenge" portion of Nike Plus. Nike Plus was a new system Nike created with Apple to let people record their runs and then download that info. With Nike Plus you can create groups and challenge your friends to outrun you. So this campaign was created to get people to challenge each other and create New Year's resolutions for running. But unlike most resolutions, this would come with a consequence if you broke it. Over 800,000 people challenged their friends in the first month the campaign ran. This was the first of several real life challenges that we filmed. And yes, she really did it. The challlenge work was part of the Nike Plus effort that recently won the vaunted Titanium Lion at Cannes.
