Across the millennia, food-eating rituals have drawn us together, helping form communities, traditions and social history. Recipes are often handed down and treasured from generation to generation, putting recipes firmly at the heart of our collective culture. In Living Recipes we have asked people to share their favourite recipes for a dish or a meal that stimulates memory, continues a tradition, recalls a time with family and friends or tells a story. Living Recipes aligns with Shepparton's identity as the food bowl of Victoria and has unearthed, unpacked and presented produce, flavours and foods from the regions communities. Please enjoy this short film of stories gathered as part of the Shepparton Festival Living Recipes project. Recipe cards were also produced and distributed throughout the festival. "You gotta start with an ambitious dream." Meet Ariel Barbouth, the co-founder and co-owner of Nuchas Empanadas, a Argentinian-inspired, NYC food truck specializing in hand-held foods. Ariel’s dream is to change the way we think about empanadas. To him, they are not just snacks. They are meals, hand-held devices to help introduce you to his appetite for global cuisine. In them is the spirit of Argentina: a dedication to high-quality ingredients and meats that pay respect to his home city. Visiting his kitchen, I could see the care that went into making each empanada. The focus on technique and building strong flavors with layers of spices and fresh vegetables was hard to miss. So, congratulations to Nuchas Empanadas for being selected as a finalist in NYC’s 2014 Vendy Cup. They have over 7 different flavors of empanadas to choose from on their trucks. I can’t wait for you to try them. Thanks so much for watching food. curated.! Happy Eating!

Creative forces made the second episode of The Eating Tales web series, a series about food and sustainable world exploration, become the first to be published. The episode Shake The Hand That Feeds you is a short introduction to sustainable farming in Portugal and it is a small piece growing awareness about organic farming and how the general public may have access to organic produce for fair prices. Portugal is a country of farmers that for different reasons came under a sleepy spell and gradually stopped farming the land. But we are now seeing a phenomenon. The young adults are going back to claim the land and cosmopolitan youths are rediscovering farming and they are bringing to the table their new knowledge brought by higher education. The economical crisis was one of the main trigger for this "back to the roots" philosophy when it was clear the traditional system was not going to do it for us. So the new farmers, the new agricultural engineers and farming specialists are developing solutions in sustainable ways. Together with the old school farmers of always, they are bringing to Portugal a wave of awesome initiatives in terms of sustainable and healthy.food producing farms. This episode is about one of these farms. In Sesimbra, Portugal, the farm of Mr Miguel Gervásio belongs to a network called PROVE. Together with other organic farmers they deliver weekly or biweekly baskets of healthy vegetables for fair prices. In Portugal organic vegetables are very expensive and this offers a creative solution that is available all over the country and growing. We believe it is very inspiring to watch these initiatives as the Eating Tales is all about telling stories from people allover the world that, tru food, inspire us and make us want to be better. We invite you to come meet extraordinary food stories around the world. Visit www.theeatingtales.com for more Eating Tales
