Animats lose energy with time and with collisions. In order to survive animats have to eat food (circles represent foraging areas). This video shows the behaviour of already evolved animats.

Molly, an Arizona black rattlesnake, retrieves a Gilbert's skink from the leaf litter. Presumably the skink dove into the leaves after being envenomated by the snake, making it a chore for Molly to find and retrieve. I've spent most of the last 25 years in the forest and wilderness gathering wild gourmet mushrooms to make my living. Right before I turned 40 I was gifted with a wonderful thing I call Isabel. From early on and for many seasons, she would often accompany me as long as she didn't ever let go of me, at about 3 yrs. old that attachment was her entire hand wrapped around my finger, and one of those times she looked up at me and with great joy announced; "I just love walkin' in the woods papa, I just love walkin' in the woods". Sorry about the low quality, I will fix that in time.

In December 2014 we have been in Bahrain for the first triathlon race taking place on the island. We took the chance to explore the area a bit. The royal camel farm was one of the spots. I assume that the coexistence between a camel and a heron is a very typical phenomenon for captivity. The heron being more a creature foraging water for food won’t probably be seen on camels in the wild. The heron in the video is a smart guy. While the camels on the farm - many of them sadly strapped with their legs - cannot escape the many flies and other parasites nested in their skin the heron helps them cleaning and in same time has secure and easy access to food - a win-win situation.
