Welcome to the ultimate arcade experience. Highway Panic sets the standard for games involving people walking across roads filled with fast moving traffic. This is old school gaming in it's purest form. No nonsense, no complications, and no crazy sign ups, hidden costs or constant banging on about sharing stuff with strangers. Enjoy the freedom of walking both up and down the screen to avoid vehicles, and earn a high score to brag to your friends about. Got a real friend? Why not get them to join you with the fiendishly addictive 2 player mode, using a single device! Enjoy these epic features : * EXHILARATING two player mode using the same device (because online gaming will never catch on). * AWESOME ANIMATION - We spent months researching how people walk to give you the best and most authentic gaming experience. In just two frames of animation, our animation gods worked their magic to bring you this. * AWESOME SOUND - With a just single sound effect (two if you include the 'win' sound), we created an immersive audio feast for your ears, in true retro style. We even went nuts and added a music clip when the game starts! * CRT SIMULATION - We proudly bring you the fuzzy, and badly adjusted TV experience from back in the day, but wait..... * SCREEN BURN - YES! You've been waiting for this, and now you've got it. All the misery of CRT burn in, now in the palm of your hands * NO In app purchase - like the good old days, you buy it, and it's yours... all of it * NO online leaderboards - if you get a great high score, then tell your friends... your real ones... in person! * NO social networking - because, you know... virtual friends kinda suck, and it's better to hang out together for real * AWESOME AWESOME - Yes, it's AWESOME Take a well earned break from the craziness of current gaming, and get one over on the youngsters by showing them who's the boss. Winning a game in crisp HD is simple.... now lets see the kids try it with old school low definition gaming!

I created all the concepts and digital art assets for this frogger style video game including the splash page and everything seen in the video. I used Maya dynamics to get the illusion that the logs, alligators, and turtles are submerged in the water, which is more evident with the turtles. I also used 3D modeling in this case to get a more 2D illustrative look by projecting digital paintings from a fixed angle onto the models themselves in Photoshop. All 3D characters including the rabbit, turtles, and alligators were rigged and animated. The vehicles were digitally painted in Photoshop. Individual animation assets were cropped in After Effects. The idea is just like the old school Frogger game, to get the rabbit to the other side of the road & river.

Created by Donald Harrison and Martin Thoburn*, featuring the voices of Fred Horowitz and Eli Neiburger. This video was inspired by the painting "White Front" by Josef Albers, on view at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA), created for their Many Voices project. * This video includes an artists' statement interview after the credits, where Harrison and Thoburn briefly discuss their approach and ideas for the piece.

As a first physical computing project we were inspired by the popular video game Frogger. The game consists in having a frog cross a busy street, trying to avoid the cars coming from both directions. Together we have devised a dynamic game that involves different physical objects, using the technology of Arduino and Processing.
