Dr Peggy Eby was a guest of SITEWORKS 2014, an annual public Spring event organised by the Bundanon Trust on the Shoalhaven river, near Nowra in New South Wales, Australia. In this 15-minute version of her talk she describes the behaviour of one of Australia's threatened mammals, the grey-headed flying fox (Pteropus poliocephalus), based on twenty years of research she and colleagues have undertaken. Her presence at the annual meeting of artists, scientists and the general public was prompted by Keith Armstrong, a contemporary artist whose research and manifestations often includes close collaboration with scientists and technologists.

And it's a hotel, too! This is part four of my documentation of our trip to India in February, 2014. Sardargarh is a somewhat remote destination but it was roughly on the way from our last stop, Jaipur, to our next, Udaipur. We had a great time there and despite a rather full touring schedule it was a relaxing two night stay. All of the excursions were nearby so we didn't spend any time in the tour bus!
For more photos and info on our India trip, be sure to visit the multiple posts on Kay's "Travel Addict" photo blog: maydaykay.blogspot.com/2014/04/incredible-india.html Still photos in the video were shot by both Kay and myself. I also used one shot, courtesy of the Sardargarh Fort Heritage Hotel: a wide shot of the fort with the village of Sardargarh below. Music credits:
The first music heard (not counting the welcoming drums and tambourine) is a tabla and dulcimer duo that accompanied dinner our first night and was recorded on my iPhone. You can hear dinner conversations in the background. Unfortunately, I did not get the players' names.

We took a day trip down to Portland, Oregon to catch up with Huichica Music Festival co-founder and Fruit Bats frontman Eric D. Johnson and Portland's famous BUNK Sandwiches chef Tommy Habetz. The two talked endlessly about their mutual love for sandwiches and rock and roll—we managed to capture a few tidbits along with details on Tommy's sandwich pairing with Gundlach Bundschu's Mountain Cuvée wine at this year's upcoming Huichica Music Festival. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Huichica Music Festival http://www.huichica.com presented by Jeff Bundschu, Gundlach Bundschu Winery http://www.gunbun.com Eric D.
