1. GravityLight: lighting for the developing countries

GravityLight is a revolutionary new approach to storing energy and creating illumination. It takes only 3 seconds to lift the weight which powers GravityLight, creating 30 minutes of light on its descent. For free. Following the initial inspiration of using gravity, and years of perspiration, we have refined the design and it is now ready for production. We need your help to fund the tooling, manufacture and distribution of at least 1000 gravity powered lights. We will gift them to villagers in both Africa and India to use regularly. The follow-up research will tell us how well the lights met their needs, and enable us to refine the design for a more efficient MK2 version. To achieve this we launched a fundraising campaign on Indiegogo and we have been thrilled by the support shown during the first 24 hours of the campaign start. But it's not yet over we still need your support by contributing to the project and spreading the word. Contribute to this effort here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/282006/x/1848870

Fundraising for medical expenses can be life-changing. Givefoward allows people to stay close to their friends right when they need it the most. We were really happy to collaborate on this project, especially because it gave us the chance to collaborate with our talented friend Hikimi, which illustrated this piece. It was an unusual process for us (we usually illustrate all our works internally) but we think Roberto's illustrations really fit. Winner- Best Documentary Northwest High School Film Festival In the village of Farar, in the heart of Senegal, over 875 share only two water spigots. From these spigots, the women of the village each carry buckets of water, weighing up to 50 pounds, anywhere from a couple hundred yards to well over a mile to their homes. The spigots are only open in the morning, however, as the pump that brings water from the well to the spigots is failing and can only run a few hours to prevent further damage. In February, 2010, I traveled with a team of high school students to this village to experience life as I never could have imagined. Partnering with World Vision, we decided to raise the money needed to provide Farar with not only a new pump, but additional water spigots as well. This film is a short glimpse of our experiences there, what we're aiming to accomplish, and how we can further benefit this community in need. We want to shoot a road movie during the world cup, and this is how we plan to do it. It all started having dinner with friends: we all really wanted to go to the brazilian worldcup, but as we all know, finding a place to sleep on those dates will be impossible, and really expensive. That's when we decided to buy a motorhome, but our economic situation wouldn't allow us to buy a good one. We had to settle with a 1973 hippie-like ruined motorhome, that actually looks perfect for our adventure, but there's a huge chance the thing won't even be able to cross the border to Brasil. The actual owner told us the motorhome "drinks" 2 litres of oil for each 100Kms. We decided to bring a mechanic along, and also hire a security guard in Brasil to protect a bunch of argentineans from the brasilean fans. It got to a point when the project was so bizarre, that we decided to raise the money, choose our best combination of characters for the trip, buy the 1973 ruined motorhome "monster", cast a mechanic, shoot it all and turn it into a movie, why not? This is the motorhome we intend to buy if it's not sold before the end of the campaign: Motorhome Brazil 2014 We do not want to be payed for a worldcup brazilian holliday. You can watch all the projects we have made at Katpa. We mean serious storrytelling road movie documentary of a really bizarre story that promisses lots of problems on the way, and probably life learning experiences (that would be nice for the documentary, right? Who knows...) What We Need & What You Get So here's what we are going to spend on the project (we are only asking for the money to make the documentary itself, we can pay for the rest outselves): - 8000 USD for the 1973 motorhome (69000 Pesos) - 2000 USD to fix a few things at least (the oil drinking, beds, door, etc). - 7000 USD gasoline - 20000 USD food - 1500 USD for the mechanic - 1500 USD for the security person - 6000 USD camera crew (1 cameraman, 1 DP and a sound director) - 10000 USD tickets in case Argentina gets to the final - 100 USD gasoline to burn the motorhome in case we loose. - 2000 USD postproduction (editing, color correcting, sound) We need a total of 58100 USD. We are only asking for half of it to keep the number real and achievable. For all those that contribute, we will send a DVD with the project. For all those that contribute with over 500USD, we will send a DVD signed by one of the argentinean players (we'll try to get Messi to sign it!) For all those that contribute with over 1,000USD, we will send an original Argentinean soccer association T-shirt signed by one of the players. For all those that contribute with over 10,000USD, we will add credits as associate producers of the documentary and they will be invited to any premieres of festivals the film might be accepted into, and of course you will also get the signed T-shirt by an argentinean player. In case we don't reach our entire goal, we will go eitherway to Brasil 2014 and we will let the contributors know at what stage of the process we are. We will adapt the documentary to the amount of money we can raise. In case we raise none, I will take a camera and shoot it myself. It won't be the same but I will do it. The Impact The idea is to make a documentary that will not only be entertaining, but will also prove how a group of friends, together, can achieve anything, except for their country to win the world cup. The group includes persons from different backgrounds and interests: one of them is an instructor at The Art Of Living foundation, the other is a literature teacher that now sells dollars in the black market, another one is a software engineer/hacker. It will be a story of friendship and growth. At least that's what we are hoping for. I have written and shot documentaries. I am currently finishing one. I believe my team and I are more than capable of delivering a fantastic story, well shot and well told. I just love storytelling and filmmaking, and I really hope I can raise the money we need to make this thing real. I'm a very resilient person and I'm sure this project will be done no matter what. Other Ways You Can Help If you feel, as I do, that this is a fantastic project that will end up as an amazing documentary worth watching, but you don't have the money to help us, please let the world know about what we are doing! Let's make some noise and truly make it happen! You can use the indiegogo share tools for that purpose.

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
