This film was shot on a micro budget with a four day shooting schedule. The script was inspired by the films of Jim Jarmusch and Jean Pierre Melville; the TV series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and the works of pulp writer Jim Thompson. Welcome to Las Vegas - Sin City USA! Come and take this magical tour of one of the most surreal cities in the world. Where else can you visit every continent in one day, from the pyramids of Egypt, to the canals of Venice, the Eiffel tower in Paris to the hustle and bustle of New York, New York. The line between day and night is well and truly blurred in this 24 hour a day town, where time doesn't exist indoors, and people never sleep. I visited Las Vegas in June 2011 - mid summer. It is only in ~44deg C (111 deg F) temperatures that you truly begin to appreciate just how much area the Las Vegas strip covers, and how far it is to walk. Fortunately many of the casinos and arcades/malls interlink so that you don't need to experience the ferocious desert heat for long. Even so, there was a fair amount of outdoor daytime shooting performed in the making of this film. It was the desire to still use that hard won footage that led to the theme of "By Day, By Night". I hope you enjoy my little look at Las Vegas! A further film you may enjoy is my look at "The Fountains of Bellagio" which you can see here: http://www.vimeo.com/27859246 ---- Camera: Sony HDR-HC9 HD Handycam Tripod: Joby Gorilla Pod + Manfrotto 190CLBTripod +128RC Head Editing: Adobe Premiere CS5 Plug-ins: Mercalli V2 Stabilisation, Magic Bullet Looks, Majic Bullet Misfire, Neat Video Noise Reduction Music by: Professor Kliq - "Plastic Flashing Lights" from the album "Community Service" Licensed under: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ Available from: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/49760

A few weeks ago Justin took his brother, Jared, to Vegas for his birthday. I tagged along for the ride and helped drive... since I was too broke to help pay for anything :/ This video might be a little long'ish, but I'm *way* behind on my videos and have lots of catching up and exporting to do. So no time to be picky :P But I am looking forward to our next road-trip "slash" Kenny Loggins-a-thon :) PS. The two awkward shots of the Donny & Marie building thingy is for my Mom...

This is how I spent New Years Eve in Dec 2005. I should mention that I don't like cock fights, but I didn't know that until AFTER I went to one. These are totally legal in Panama, and this one was in a big arena with stadium seating. It was a bizarre experience.
