GARAGE CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY CULTURE PRESENTS THE MUSEUM OF EVERYTHING EXHIBITION #5 MOSCOW 2013 26th April to 2nd June 2013 Last summer The Museum of Everything trekked across Russia searching for artists for Exhibition #5, the country’s first and largest survey of contemporary, self-taught, non-traditional art. Our journey started in Yekaterinberg and continued to Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, St Petersburg and Gorky Park in Moscow, where our quest for untrained, undiscovered and unintentional artists continued. In every city we visited, we met artists and curated a local show featuring their artworks. To see Exhibition #5 in action on the road, check out one of the movies below or visit our blog here. Exhibition #5 opened on the 26th April 2013 at Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Gorky Park, Moscow, and featured many of our discoveries, plus an outstanding group of historic self-taught Russian artists. The installation envelops visitors in a temporary hotel paradise, where they can enjoy the excesses of wealth, luxury and gluttony. The people who inhabit this tropical and exotic hotel are either ‘masters’ or ‘servants’. The Garage Center for Contemporary Culture is a new international arts center based in Moscow. Francesco Vezzoli : Ballets Russes Italian Style The artist presents an exhibition exploring his iconic performance piece with Lady Gaga and dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet. The highly visual performance took references from Le Bal (1929), the only one of the Ballets Russes’ performances that was designed by Balanchine in collaboration with an Italian artist, the Surrealist Giorgio de Chirico. Vezzoli collaborated with others to conceive every detail of the interior space, which included a piano artwork by Damien Hirst and costumes by Miuccia Prada, to create a “living, breathing artwork.” The elaborate work combined the different genres of video, petit-point embroidery, photography, and live performance. Russian interview with Daan Roosegaarde for TV1 Moscow about his ‘Dune’ at ‘Decode, Digital Design Sensation’ at the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow. http://www.garageccc.com/events/lectures/17300.phtml "Они думают, что ничего не поймут и все испортят, - говорит директор по связям с общественностью музея "Victoria&Albert", - но эта работа показывает им, что все это легко и даже приятно". 12/02/2011, Moscow RU.
