                  from Brock Cravy Added 99 0 0

Cabaret came to life in 1997. Jonathan Poullard was Chair of the SCLGBA (the T was added at 1998 Convention). The SCLGBA had a successful raffle at the ACPA Convention in St. Louis and the results inspired a conversation about fund raising for the community. Tony Kearney suggested that the group should host a cabaret. The 2008 Convention was scheduled for Atlanta and Tony knew local club owners who would be supportive and provide a venue. At that time, we held Cabaret away from Convention because some employers would not tolerate "out and gay" on campuses for professionals. We wanted to ensure safety for everyone. The first cabaret was a great success and the rest is history except now, we are proud to say that we can hold cabaret at convention headquarters and continue to raise money for convention attendees who are living with or affected by HIV and AIDS. Celebrate ACPA's legacy of advocacy for the LGBT community, watch Cabaret at the 2015 Tampa Convention and learn about the history of PRIDE and current perspectives. Produced and directed by Brock Cravy of The White Buffalo Art Gallery.
