This short film is a tribute/parody of all those special effect movies I grew up watching with over-the-top non-stop action. Some references in this film include Star Wars and Quantum Leap. If you're like me, you enjoy explosions, gun fights, super powers, lightsabers, action sequences, and anything involving ILM and WETA. I hope you enjoy the visual effects in this film. I'd love to make more of these, so if you have any feedback on what you'd like to see or what worked/didn't work, let me know. As a long time fan of the Star Wars films and universe, one who is eagerly looking forward to the forthcoming new chapters in the space saga, I decided to pay tribute to the directors, cast, and the VFX of the Star Wars films of my childhood in the form of a behind-the-scenes pictorial montage. The montage consists primarily of photographs taken on the sets of the various Star Wars films. It also includes dialogue from scenes in the actual films or interviews of the actors. As you will see throughout the tribute, there is a clear focus on the original trilogy. This came about in part as a result of my preferences for those films, but it was also due in larger part because those films simply had the most engaging and candid behind the scenes photographs of the cast and crew. Once I began the process of gathering the photographs, I quickly realized there were so many great moments captured that even using only a quarter of them would make the video unwieldly and most likely unwatchable. As an admitted Star Wars geek I would have loved to have used most of the photographs I was able to locate, however as a practical matter I knew that was not to be. Arriving at what became the final 45 photographs used in the video was the most difficult part of the project. Needless to say there was a lot of internal debate about the choices being made and why. However, at the end of the day, I and my contributors were very pleased with the result. It was undeniably a true labor of Star Wars love. The montage is set to Dare to Dream Big, which is a wonderful musical composition courtesy of The Secession. The tribute has received tremendous support on Vimeo, and an elegant write-up by Stephen Sumner of OpHuMod. I hope you enjoy the video, and thanks so much for watching. May the force be with you...always!

Here is a video I did in NY with the new 2010 Tachyon XC cam and its amazing 3D technology. I put it together with Final Cut, and had a blast with all the 3D footage. The camera is actually 2 2010 XC's out together with the Tachyon XC 3D mounting system. Tachyon has also produced its own 3D editing software to align the files as well as its own 3D glasses. I was amazed with the footage from the Times Square night scenes, the clarity and color was amazing. The 2D footage as well is fantastic, thanks to the new light sensor in the cam. Hope you enjoy the video, I will be filming and editing a ton more 3D footage in the near future.
