                    from Robin Piets / Added

The Turtle And The Village is a groundbreaking interactive film for the WASH Program (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) of UNICEF Ghana. The question was how media could be used in developmental work. The message was that people have to realize that they shouldn't defecate in the open, that they have to wash their hands with soap and that they should cover their food and water to protect it from the flies. But how do you change this behaviour? Our team did a lot of research how we could realize this behaviour change. Through interaction we want to tell people that they have to participate. During the movie the storyteller will ask the audience to sing along with a song or to scream as loud as they can to wake somebody up. They really have to do something, otherwise the story will not continue. We present the information in a unique and entertaining experience. When we went to rural areas to show our interactive film, it became a special event and everybody came out to see it. We witnessed with our own eyes that media can be a very good tool in developmental work. Concept and Realization: Anne van Campenhout, Erik van der Ven, Jeroen Koffeman, Josine van Keulen, Rens Christiaansen and Robin Piets Cast: Edinam Atatsi, Emmanuel Armah, Emmanuel Abankwa, Solomon Sampah, Joseph Quao, Sweet Africa and everybody in Ayigbo Music: Tic Tac, Ayekoo Drummers and Anthony Simpson Thanks to: Accra Polytechnic, UNICEF Ghana, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Areas and Utrecht School Of The Arts
