Was once a very large milling site for the Yerington Nevada area and what they called the copper belt. Over the years people have come and gone most leave the place with a little history some have to leave their marks. Its life began in 1910 and ended in 1914 although there was some tries at revival, after that nothing has been operating at the site since 1923.

Lost mines, abandoned diggings, ghost towns.

The very words conjure enigmatic images of the Old West; for as long as there has been a United States, the western frontier has remained that vast Unknown where epic adventures could and did occur. One need only visit any of the near-forgotten sites that hide, isolated, out in the deserts and mountains to be filled with a sense of wonder. Part armchair tour and part paean, the multi-year, multi-state production GHOSTS OF THE WEST RAG journeys through some of the ghost towns and mining camps of the American West, and gave viewers their first look at the highly anticipated, and ultimately award-winning feature documentary GHOSTS OF THE WEST. Snowstorm I shot in Uranium City, Saskatchewan in mid-September, 2000. The leaves were still on the trees when a two day storm came in and covered the whole area. I flew out a day after the storm but apparently all the snow melted and Uranium City had an Indian summer that lasted for almost all of October before it snowed again. Uranium City is a town in the upper West corner of Saskatchewan, divided from the rest of the province by mammoth Lake Athabasca. A Cold War boom town in the '50s, it settled into a stable, growing town in the late '70s when many new buildings went up, a new school was built etc. When the Eldorado Mine abruptly announced it was closing in December, 1981, the population plunged from 4000 to 400 in just six months. Less than a hundred people live there now.

"When I was"- What do these three words signify? This series is dedicated to the millions of voices who have uttered those words. It's built upon those adventures. Dialed to that moment, those times. Engraved in the wrinkles....of faces. Founded by Corner stores. Self-owned shops. Small towns. Remnants of what was. Because no crane can blank the slate of human existence. No dust can cover the ash and rust upon the places we were."
