      MELBOURNE, 15 October 2012 – In this video Asialink talk with Gigi Scaria and take a look at his exhibition Prisms of Perception at The Ian Potter Museum of Art. The Ian Potter Museum of art present a selection of Gigi Scaria’s recent videos for the 2012 Melbourne Festival, providing audiences with the opportunity to experience his work for the first time in this city. Since 2002, Scaria has made thirty independent films, which explore a range of topics inspired by place and the people who inhabit particular locations that are imbued with different social and political conditions. The films include: A day with Sohail and Maryan (2004), Home: in/out (2005), Raise your hands those who have touched him (2007), and All about the other side (2008). The exhibition runs from Saturday 13 Oct 2012 to Sunday 28 Oct 2012. Presented in partnership with Utopia@Asialink.         Gigi Scaria (1973) is a sculptor, painter, photographer and video artist. He was born in Kerala and lives and works in Delhi. The works shown in this film stem from the series Settlement, 2008 and 2009. - 7 films 7 artists 7 locations In 7 days Third Ear’s Miriam Nielsen met 7 visual artists from the happening Indian art scene in Delhi. The works of these artists comment on and interact with the city directly - which is why she asked them to take her to 7 locations in Delhi – to the places that inspire them.

          This video was produced by Gigi Scaria (Bengaluru, India) in occasion of the "Other Anecdotes" exhibition at Scion Installation LA. Gigi Scaria (Bengaluru) did his BFA in painting at the College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, and his MFA at the Jamia Millia University. His work focuses on issues of change, unsettlement, immigration, exodus and non-belonging.
