1. GOD'S MISSION, OUR MISSION 1/5: GOSPEL-CENTERED CHURCH

    46:11

THE BIG IDEA: The gospel forms the church. THE BIBLE READING: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 (ESV) 15 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. KEY SCRIPTURE: And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent (Colossians 1:18) THE BLURB: The gospel is not merely one thing among many in the life of a church but rather the means by which the church exists. It is the very thing that forms the church and gives it life. In this sermon we will discover how BPCC – you and I – have been given the mission as God’s people to proclaim and embody the gospel for the glory of God and the good of our community.

      • Gospel-Centered Teaching by Trevin Wax

        02:09

        from BH Publishing Added

For small group leaders and Sunday school facilitators who prefer truth over technique, Gospel-Centered Teaching is refreshing in its simple purpose to remind you of something you already instinctively know: It's Jesus who changes lives, and the goal of your Bible study is to continually reintroduce people to Him. While discussing in depth common related concerns (missional apathy, biblical illiteracy in the church, shallow discussions, etc.), author and teacher Trevin Wax duly offers a practical guide to making sure your message is always surely centered on Jesus and what He has done: "Fellow teachers, let's soak ourselves in the truths of the gospel and the Word. Then, let's invite others to the fountain of living water offered freely by our Master Teacher whose life and death changes everything."

Join us for this sermon series as we journey through the great book of Nehemiah. By the power of God's Spirit we desire to be a CHURCH for the CITY, NATIONS, and GENERATIONS. Especially, in this season as CrossPointe Coast seeks to extend the CrossPointe Movement in a growing city for the sake of an entire county, WILL YOU JOIN US? "We have a passion to see our city and Central Florida redeemed by the power of the Gospel for the glory of God. The desire of CrossPointe is not just to build a great church, but as we see in Nehemiah, to build a great city which worships Jesus and orients their lives around Him. We desire to build a church of many congregations that will be a blessing to the communities around us by pointing them to Jesus Christ. To see the beauty, harmony and wholeness of God's Kingdom reign in our lives and in our communities, as the Gospel radically reorients us to Jesus and His mission of renewing the world. Will you join us as we build a church that declares the Gospel for city, the nations and the generations. Will you join us?"

As we come together today to worship the Lord, there are many things that we as believers take for granted. We believe that the Bible, the Word of God, is indeed THE WORD OF GOD! We believe the Bible to be true, that it is a Divine document inspired by God and given to us as a direct and thoughtful communication from the hand of God. We also believe that Jesus Christ is the Incarnate Word, God clothed in human flesh, i.e., The Son of God. We believe that Christ is God in His person. God has revealed the glory of God to mankind in the express image of God Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that He, Christ, is the focal point of all of history and all of God’s Word. We believe that the Bible accurately speaks of and reveals Christ to us. He is the living Word. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead, bodily. We also believe that there is an overriding message from God given to us in the life, words and example of Christ. This is the gospel, the good news, i.e., “God so loved the world. . .” (John 3:16). The gospel is the good news of new life, love, forgiveness, and complete transformation. All of these truths are at the very core of Christianity. Every true and effective church must be Bible centered, Christ centered and Gospel centered. The local church must be a church of the Word!
