I was on a two week storm chasing trip through the Great Plains of USA in 2014 summer. During the trip, I recorded lots of short timelapse sequences as I thought the power of the storms can be demonstrated much better with a video. This is my first timelapse video. All images recorded using a Canon 6D with Samyang 14mm and Canon 17-40mm. All images and production by Esen Tunar (www.esentunar.com) Music by M83 ("Waking Up"from Oblivion Soundtrack) (http://ilovem83.com/)

      • Pawnee National Grassland - In A Colorado Minute (Week 181) [HD]

--- http://MovingPostcard.com --- When you turn your back on the Rocky Mountains in the west and head east from Fort Collins, Colorado, you suddenly find yourself in a completely different landscape: the Pawnee National Grassland - a section of the Great Plains that borders on Wyoming and Nebraska. This area really does seem as vast and charmingly desolate as I hope it comes across in the video. Agriculture was mostly abandoned after the Dust Bowl and Great Depression. There are some oil rigs, some live stock farming - but mostly it's the land of prairie dogs, coyotes, tumbleweeds and people firing guns for sport. When our friend Jeff Marks visited from Brooklyn this past weekend Scott, Jeff, Peter, Deanna and I decided to enjoy what this part of Colorado had to offer instead of the mountains. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to film - so I'd like to return to the Pawnee Grassland another time - especially to hike, film and photograph the Pawnee Buttes. A fact I learned while writing this post: National Grasslands are pretty much the same as National Forests, which means they're owned by the US government. The difference is, of course, that National Forests have mostly trees and National Grasslands are mostly prairie. As a German girl, I naturally get goosebumps when I hear the word prairie or see tumbleweeds. The dream of riding alongside Winnetou or Old Shatterhand one day is still alive... Music yet again by Four Dollar Wine (aka Thimo Sander and Scott Solary) - an instrumental version of their song "Please Come Home" - which I love dearly and which you can download for free here: http://fourdollarwine.com/track/please-come-home Personal blog: http://goodhardworkingpeople.blogspot.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MovingPostcard Twitter: http://twitter.com/luciwest Flickr: http://flickr.com/luciwest Google+: http://google/+MovingPostcard YouTube: http://youtube.com/GNYBerlin YouTube: http://youtube.com/LuciWest Tumblr: http://luciwest.tumblr.com Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/LuciWest Instagram: http://Instagram.com/LuciWest Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/LuciWest

The 5 individual timelapse videos combined together in this video were all made around Manhattan, Kansas during July and August of 2013. I've been working on creating timelapse series for each season "close to home" to show the world I see each day and where I do most of my photography. The lake included in the video is Tuttle Creek Lake and the other segments were made in the Flint Hills north, south, and east of Manhattan.

Great Plains planned a surprise helicopter scenic transfer for twelve of their special guests staying at Zarafa. After lifting off in front of Zarafa guests were flown over the famous Selinda spillway exposing large herds of elephant and buffalo. Flying "doors off" guests had great photo opportunities before being dropped off. Back on land a speed boat was waiting to take them to their next adventure destination Selinda camp. Thanks to great Plains for letting us fly your guests in style!

My passion for cinematography is fulfilled only when I find that special place that overwhelms with its beauty, tranquility, and even its latent danger. While some of my images evolve from simple measurement and the luck of chance, most are the results of being an impassioned observer. I often find beauty in the most uninspiring locale and my gift is creating a scene that encourages the spectator to find it too. These rare moments are born of waiting at remote and inhospitable locations for hours for just the right light and magic to emerge, only to return time and time again before being satisfied. These scenes are fleeting and are my labors of love.

This is the sixty-second trailer for the short film INTO THICK AIR (2012). They rebuffed Sherpas, rejected supplementary oxygen, and refused advice to turn back. Now, ten years after an unthinkable expedition, seven friends confront the long-lost footage of their attempt to climb the notorious Seven Summits...of the Great Plains.

A Lex Browning original. AFter playing with Seafood Mama, Quarterflash, and Jeffrey Frederick's Les Clams, Lex moved to Nashville to join Great Plains, where he also played with and wrote for Kenny Rogers, Vince Gill, Trace Atkins, Pam Tillis, Tanya Tucker and more... Then he did a stint with the Austin Lounge Lizards, before returning to Portland, where he now plays with the Freak Mountain Ramblers and all kinds of others. You can find this tune on his Red Newt Records CD, Good Rain, engineered by the drummer on this tune, the legendary Gregg Williams. Gregg also plays drums on Cheryl Crow's platinum record, The Globe Sessions.
