Abide With Me is a 15 minute film short about three generations of one family – daughter, mother and grandfather. From the perspective of the present, it explores how the past has influence in the family. The film was shot in the centenary year of the outbreak of the First World War, when the daughter, Beth journeys to France, Yorkshire and Scotland to explore her grandfather’s traumatic Great War history. In a parallel second journey, a metaphysical one, we see that despite the passage of time, each of the family’s psychological issues are subtly intertwined. The grandfather’s ‘chronic mania’, and subsequent incarceration leave a legacy for Pamela, whose own experience of depression shows a vulnerability that Beth, the granddaughter, carries forward into her life. The film is lyrical but accessible and unlike format TV it is more reflective than didactic in approach. It allows the testaments, anecdotes and archive to unfold – leaving the issues raised open for the viewer to consider.

Leningrad 1942. The Russian Second Shock Army fights itself to death for Stalin and the Motherland. However, their general, Andrej Vlasov, decides to defect to the Germans, taking some of his officers with him. Stalin takes his revenge on the men of the whole 2nd Shock Army. They are cut off from every supply or logistical support from the Motherland. Tens of thousands of men are left on their own while the Germans are closing in on them from all sides. Now the corpses of these soldiers are left unburied and without honour. To Stalin they were 'an Army of traitors'. Their families who stayed behind were also brandished as traitors. Now, 55 years later, the truth emerges as young Russians explore the battlefield and find, apart from the countless human remains, the heartfelt cries of these 'traitors'. ANGELS OF DEATH exposes one of the biggest scandals of the Soviet era.

Dover Forget Me Not War Graves, Australians in World War One: Ypres Salient; Genesis of a War Monument: Brothers in Arms. This is the true story of John Hunter, an Australian soldier of the Great War who fell on the battlefield near Ypres. When his brother heard that he had fallen, he marched back for over 2 km through the killing fields with risk of his own life. He found his dying brother. He comforted him and then John Hunter died in his brothers arms. His brother buried him on site, facing towards Australia. John Hunter's remains, together with those of 4 others, were discovered during road works by Johan Vandewalle (among others) in 2006. John Hunter is one of the 'Zonnebeke Five' and they are the most recent soldiers to be burried on the Buttes British Military Cemetery in Zonnebeke, near Ypres, Belgium. Read more about how Johan discovered the remains of John Hunter here: http://www.brothersinarmsmemorial.com/Documents/The%20Story.pdf I’m an independent, non-commercial amateur filmmaker. I have been working on a ‘passion project’ for about one year called ‘On Holy Ground’, which is about the World War One cemeteries and memorials in the Ypres region in Flanders, Belgium. This is where I live. I have a channel on vimeo and I have made about 25 short films already. More details on the Australian Hunt brothers’ story: www.polygonwood.com Filmed on a 550D/T2i (lenses: Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 and Samyang 14mm f2.8). As you will see, not all is perfect... the two gentlemen talking into the microphone had had no preparation time at all, as these were impromtu talks, and Alan, a great person, was using the microphone rather as a pointing stick or baton, instead of holding it towards his mouth... Oh well, it is authentic, and this is what matters! Here is my channel: https://vimeo.com/channels/onholyground
