378,491 Views - LOS ANGELES. Greenhouse Effect have come roaring back in 2008 and 2009 to crushing views and downloads on the internet, Top chart success at Myspace and Youtube, "Other countries" explosive plays of their Mega Hit single BRANDY, A 1000 $ Dollar payday "side stage" offer to play California's Coachella Festival, and top rotation at JANGO RADIO ! NEEDLESS TO SAY, its been quite a year for the pinnacle three piece 'trio' band that "Started it all". "We are and were THE musical revolution of the 1980's and 90's" says Clark Hagins in November 2009. "With so many people now knowing about me and my music, learning about Phil Keegan, and Great People Like Jeff Snow at Rock City Productions in Massachusetts,..and so curious about all of our web tactics and Jango Radio,....its great,...we have everything in place EXCEPT for the major airplay at FM RADIO in America,.....AND we'll get THAT next" says Hagins. Hagins gushes about a hopeful upcoming "reality show" about him and his music plus his swimming pool cleaning possibly on Halogen Tv airing in 2010. "My surfer nephew has a show called "Wave Hunters" that is gunning onto airplay with Halogen,..there may just be a G.e. thing in the works soon,..although millions of people have seen me so much,....I'm alot like Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters,...theres a hella lotta people that are sick and tired of me,...but fortunately for me,..i got this nerdy Weezer Rivers Cuomo type of thing where G.e. is so "lovable" ,..we're like Woody Allens,..they love us in France and Japan,....We got geekey guys in the band like Ted,....even Palle too,..we are charmers,...I hope people will tune into my tv show soon,..I hope they're not too sick of me and Brandy n all" Hagins speaks fondly of a recent rehearsal where he and new drummer/ Surfer Hagan Kelley rocked in San Diego's North County's Goblen rehearsal studio in Vista Ca. "Its kinda sad because years ago, Goblin burned to the ground and their guy Darren - who is just such a terrific great guy,..he really struggled to get Goblen studios going again so we bands can play there,....We bands NEED a place to play,..to jam,..it means alot to groups that are struggling too these days,...but me and Hagan pulled off a great show,...We did play Brandy pretty tight,....I don't think we were quite ready to play that Coachella thing last summer but Hagan suggested that we just go there and play the whole ENTIRE gig in our underware, smashing all our gear,..and I was like 'but dude,..we don't HAVE any gear,..we would be smashing someone elses' gear (Laughs)" Darren from Goblen often "loans" Hagins and other bands musical gear to jam with for a small fee,...."Maybe if Darren loaned me the absolute crappiest guitar I could smash it at a concert and he might not mind (Laughs) " adds Hagins. = Hagan Kelley's surf program documents his trips to Mexico and maybe Fiji where he surfs waves, hunts for "Art chicks" and listens to "Gone" old tapes by Greg Ginn from Black Flag. "Hagan's show "Wave Hunters" is gonna be part of Josh Shipp's Jump Shipp I think" says Hagins.... Meanwhile in the U.S. , G.E. continues to rack up astounding numbers in cyberspace as the "World's biggest internet rock band" feeding off their song Brandy mainly and footage of historic G.e. concerts back in the South Bay of Redondo beach California like the Show at the Hermosa Saloon on August 16, 1991 ,..where G.e. appeared to be 'copying' the look, style, sound, and demanor of Seattle band Nirvana - Ofcourse at the time, there was no Huge Nirvana known as their "Smells like teen spirit" video and "Nevermind" album had yet to be released and heard of.." Our band was so innovative" says Hagins "For years , i tried and tried to convince all the major labels to sign us and i begged them that 'grunge' rock was gonna be the next big thing - this is very common knowledge in the South Bay,....everybody THOUGHT that I was crazy and insane,..they said that 'alternative music' was never gonna make it ,..and that it was subject only to the 'bargain bins' at record stores,..well, I fought like hell,..not just for me,..but for ALL EMO BANDS,....WE WANTED TO DESTROY heavy metal and bands like Skid Row and Def Leppard,..it was a tough tall order,....when i suddenly saw Nirvana going off huge,..i was a little stunned,...I mean i was a little happy to see that my ideas could work in the big time of the main stream,...but then I began to get bitter and angry and i wondered how it was,...how was it possible that G.e. of all bands ,..still couldn't get signed,...even with our song BRANDY in 1992,..it really bummed me,..out,..it made me give up and quit ,..by late 92' ,..I was over,..G.E. WAS OVER !! Our bassist Ted had quit and went and joined a punk rock band called the One handed Readers in Redondo,.....me and Palle Carlson tried to keep G.e. alive ,..but then he went back to Denmark,..man,..it was sad,..things were falling apart fast,....then, I saw all those bands like Weezer and Green day in '94,..THATS when i knew it was really over for me,..and i was only 29 ,..back then,..but in those days,..THAT was considered old !! In the South Bay,.... Hagins began the live part of his musical career jamming with bands like Palos Verdes demo project "The Cloud Chamber" before moving on to jam with fellow Redondo guitar rocker Steve "Stevo" Stepanian - where Hagins played drums before jamming with a multitude myriad of different South Bay punk bands, among them B.P.S. (beats per second) and "Outlash Control" before settling in as permenant fill in drummer for the Jim Mellon Quartet and the CVB (Christine Valley Band) with Joe Groovey dude and John Hall from Youngstown Ohio and many drunken nights at the Hermosa Saloon where huge loud blues gigs were often "Led" by Hagins - from the drum kit. "Its funny,..in the South Bay, I had just like this HUGE reputation as a drummer - but NOW most of the world knows me as a guitarist (Laughs)" says Hagins in November 2009. "Brandy" has turned Hagins into an overnight success and more than a household internet word ,..where millions of plays and downloads ,..many often 'originating' in the South Bay before spreading all across the country and the world "My dad was like this heroic school teacher at Palos Verdes High School,..he was Gary Hagins Teacher and his students really loved him and his dark sense of humor,...they rallied around HIM and now today, from all across the United States,..they rally around ME - I AM THE SON OF GARY HAGINS,..SCHOOL TEACHER ,..THATS LIKE BEING THE SON OF JESUS OR WAYNE GRETZKY IN CANADA,....'THATS' HOW MUCH HIS FORMER STUDENTS LOVE MY DAD !!,...I LOVE MY DAD - He's such a great genius thinker,...he writes great books,..he would have been a great blogger in cyberspace,....my dad has cancer right now,..he is very sick,..and 80 years old,....but he is still very sharp of mind,..he recently had a heart attack and stroke,...i will do every thing in my power and all i can to make sure 'all' of my dad's great books get published - I KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE GOOD - BUT GOOD IN THAT GRAY AREA WAY - where people don't really understand you,..My dad is GREAT LIKE THAT - HE IS A GENIUS !! I'M GONNA SEE TO IT THAT ALL OF HIS WORKS BECOME FAMOUS AND PUBLISHED !!! Its in our Family DNA to create Great Art.... HAGINS credits many nights of rehearsals and gigs at places like the Hermosa Saloon in giving him the confidence to play rock n roll music..."I was NOT always a nice sweet friendly guy to people,..but i could be very cool and kind too at times if given a chance..,..All that they try to say about me is not true,..its a big misunderstanding usually ,..I was just fighting to get to the top - THE TOP OF ROCK N ROLL AND GRUNGE ALTERNATIVE MUSIC,..Very determined....ITS A BUMMER THAT I COULDN'T have made it and hit the big time back in 1991 or 92" says Hagins "but this is how God wants it,..I'll just have to rock out now - for the world - at age 44,..and I will help bands like the Spongetones and Batlord along the way !! ======================== Hagins says that he "has to blog" and thoroughly enjoys writing - even more than music "Its like sex being a blogger" says Hagins "especially when yer one of the world's most known,..its nice to know that people read my shit" - "My dad was and is a Great writer,...and writing is difficult,..you have to organize and remember a lotta stuff ,..like as if you yourself are a computer,...it takes a ton of patients and passion,...its difficult and tough,..but 'IF' you enjoy it,..THAT makes it all fun and worthwhile,....I just wish I could get paid for this shit (Laughs)...." =================== Hagins says he didn't always get along or have the greatest relationship with his dad "I don't worry about that old shit now to the point of it killing me,...people on youtube come on there and they say nice things and they try to help me,..its been a struggle,..my dad did what he had to do and he was tired from teaching all day,..he still managed to devote time to his Church and his followers,..and i am ONE OF THEM !!...He fed me food,....and he put a roof over my head" =========================== Jango Radio has been quite useful as Hagins manages to get plenty of World-wide Airplay for songs like "Brandy" and the "Black or White" Song along with what Hagins calls "Crucial airplay' for the Phil Keegan guitar era of G.e. "My music is just pop flap,..its three chords with verse chorus verse kinda shit,....but it IS the Phil Keegan on Guitar era of Greenhouse Effect that makes Our band so unique and special,...we were real true warriors ,..standing up for bands like "Book of Talesian" era Deep purple, the Who, and the Yardbirds with keith Relf,..we were real 60's junkies,..THAT is what became grunge with "Precarious" and "Racers" and 'Waiting for your love to fail"...plus Rick Carmodys important 'flannel image',...If i could turn back time,..I wish atleast TWO of our important gigs had been filmed and I had them to document today and that would be this one gig that we played in 1987 at Madame Wongs where me and Ted were all decked out in flannel,..we did it in honor of Neil young and Mike Watt mainly (Laughs),...no,..in 1987,..we weren't doing it for Kurt,..(hisses),...Me and Ted always thought that Nirvana sucked ,..and to a degree I still do,..those guys are fucking Lame - atleast compared to G.e. - but then again,..ALL bands suck ...next to G.e. - except shit like Rush and iron Maiden - THAT SHIT is hella good !! I can't touch THOSE !! ANY BAND after Sept. 24, 1991,..I don't listen to,..maybe Weezer,..and thats all,..the rest of it sucks,...I respect Nirvana for all their luck and timing n all ...and skill - one cannot deny them,...but i don't respect Green Day at all - NOT ONE BIT,...I WOULD SPIT IN THAT GUY'S fucking little face ..... ...The other gig I wish I had on film (and is rumored to really exist on film somewhere in the S. bay) would be May 1991 at Wilson Stadium with Greg Tarpley on Drums - that gig ,..and another one with FYP at the Anti-club in Los Angeles with Tarpley - they were both amazing tight loud shows ,..where G.e. just took over - better than the Hermosa Saloon one,..they really displayed 'the vision' for what would later become 1990's grunge and three piece alternative.

687,935 Views - Vtap Videos / Greenhouse Songs - G.E. Videos Have become the things of Legend all over the internet as the very interesting Los Angeles band seems to hit with One strong Catchy Arrangement after the next and "Addicted" is no doubt one song that has made the Redondo Beach Trio Mega-Famous in cyberspace; "We get video hits now simply because E-V-E-R-Y-BODY wants to link exchange with G.e. or just be word 'associated' with us" Says Clarke Higgins the band's Zany Lead Guitarist and most notable for his wild performances in videos for such cyber-classics as "Brandy", 'White Black Thang', "Coke Snorting", and "Misogynistia (Shes A Bitch,..and then You Live)" - Higgins says that the band plans a Brand New World Wide "Live" Video; "We're putting out a Video called 'Shes a Bitch,..and then You "Live" ,..get it ?? (Laughs)" says the witty 6 stringer of Redondo Beach California's most noticed Web phenomena. Greenhouse Effect Songs grab your attention fast just simply for how unusual, direct, and daring that they almost always are or as Haggins refers to G.e. ; "We're like Frank Zappa,....but if he smoked crack !!" The band has tons of personality and even Ego missing from today's bands and world as Funny Looking Red Haired Bassist Rick Carmody and Higgins can ham it up for the camera with humor better than any band !! "I always thought that the Beatles were so funny,....I always dreamed that I could be a funny rock star like that and make people laugh as well as give them great songs and melody,....G.e. does exactly that !!" Says Higgins. "We're seen all around the world millions of times and we have such a strong cult devoted following,.....theres always a thousand hits for our clips all the time" Says Higgins. Bassist Carmody and Higgins have hardly spoken in some 20 years since Greenhouse Effect broke up in 1992 but Haggins says that he regularly keeps in touch with guitarist Phil Keegan and drummer Marty Silva. NEW YORK'S JANGO RADIO is just one of the many ways that Higgins and G.e. get around all over the globe and there are other Avenues as well at Hagins' disposal for hype and Promotion of his beloved G.E.; "I never dreamed that I could really get paid good money for this but I do,....G.e. is an internet Success in so many rewarding ways,...I feel like my art is fully realised and evolved,....it's a great feeling that so many people love my music and even so many people in California compliment me all the time and tell me how Great G.e. is,....I know that secretly they still think that we suck,...but this is so fun,....and it will Last forever - thats the best part" Says Higgins "G.e. will still be playing and rocking out,....Long after I'm gone !!" Greenhouse Effect seem to thrive upon their uniqueness and lack of style or category; "We aren't a typical heavy metal band or punk band,...we aren't Emo or country,....we fall into absolutely no category,....When people ask me what G.e. is,..I just say "Harry Nilsson circa 1970 / 71' (Laughs)" Higgins says that Harry Nilsson Songs like "Without You" literally "Made" his life long ago growing up back in Torrance California as he walked to Parkway School or tracks like "Time in a bottle" by Jim Croce; "Jim Croce and John Denver mean so much to me,....but Dusty Springfield, Dionne Warwick, and Frank Zappa just put me over the line" Says Haggins. The spell-bindingly good Video for "Addicted" takes Haggins back in time and displays the Life of the internet's most Watched musician as the memories of Newton Middle School and South High in Torrance when Haggins first made his early "Grunge" demos at his home studio stir the spirit of the Web Musician but in David Bowie fashion; "Memories help me to write poetry,...my conservatism is so important,...it gives me such an edge over everybody else,....the things like the fact that I never miss Mass at church and I never vote for a Democrat is just such a weird novelty for where I am from and my community - where EVERYBODY is just like this robot Douchebag Doper,....I am so unique and so odd,....its why my music is the best,...you have to be a sentimental guy like me to enjoy an old Harry Nilsson Song like "Me and My Arrow" or "Together" and I just think its so important that so many people picked on me and ridiculed me,...it really made my art good quality,....you absolutely have to suffer great adversity and pain to be as talented as I am,...theres no way a guy can write a classic like "Addicted" unless he's been through shit - or had an older brother like my brother Doug (Laughs)" - Haggins says that he gets the 'thrill of a lifetime' when people play his songs loud on their computers; "My statistics reflect that people listen to my whole entire songs,...they seem to love "Addicted" and "Shes A Bitch" ALOT,....whats so funny and weird is how they like "those' more than "Brandy" or "White Black" or "Six Feet Under" or "Coke Snorting",...I'm tickled pink by it all (Laughs)" Haggins says that growing up back in Redondo Beach, that the 'Great One" Wayne Gretzky inspired him to achieve Greatness; "I always wanted to play Hockey and I gave Mr. Gretzky some of my music tapes and he said they were awesome !! I'll never forget that !!" Says Higgins. Complete and absolute Quality from top to bottom and from start to finish is what G.e. is always about and in the very competitive world of the web, Haggins is in a constant fight to keep ahead or close to the Lady Ga Ga's and Justin Beibers; "We were doing just fine & really well until Beiber came along" Says Higgins.

The Most Watched internet Rock band in the World hit's hard with "Brandy" Daily at Jango and Pandora internet Radios but it is the Early Days Period with Guitarist-Phil_Keegan that Clark Hagins cherishes as his best G.E. memories; "The huge Success of 'Brandy' gives me a buzz but when i see one of our Surfing Movies and i hear Guitarist Phil Keegan,...it really brings back the glory days of our band and gives me a chill,...I see that we really have gotten big on the internet and i feel so obligated to make sure that the World knows about such a Great Musician in Keegan... as much as they can !" GREENHOUSE EFFECT youtu.be/V307XANiOxY BEGAN Uploading Surfing Videos in 2005 and 2006 at various internet sites such as Youtube and Myspace (which was huge at the time); "We've never really taken off on Facebook like I thought that we would,...there is a lotta Payola out there and I simply don't want - nor do I have ,..the money to buy all kindsa friends at Facebook youtu.be/V307XANiOxY " Says Haggins. The Greenhouse Effect's Tom Curren Surfing Films grew popular on the web but Haggins saw Youtube begin to take many of his accounts down and seeing his accounts deleted has made the musician somewhat angry with Youtube over the years; "It's super hard work on here,...it's a LOT of long nights til 4;00 Am and a LOT of Google adwords ads and money to get as big as we have gotten on here,....when people flag or delete your accounts,...they are just being mean and total assholes,...they fucking suck ,....bad karma will come to them for sure" Says a determined Haggins. youtu.be/V307XANiOxY Haggins' Clay Marzo Videos have taken off at Youtube with nearly 11,000 Plays in only the first week !! As Brandy has continued to rock Jango Radio and score New fans world wide; "We've grown into a big thing,..I will admit it,..but we've seen other surf bands pass us by ,...We're quite unhappy about the Foster The People stuff,..because we think that we're a much better band with way better and more unique songs than them ,....Foster The People are amateurs ,...their Songwriting is weak and People know it !! A LOT of bands,..unfortunately ,..have seen Greenhouse-Effect-Music putting Surfing in their videos and they have decided that they wanna do it too ,..it's a bummer,..we come up with good clever ideas,...and other People seem to steal them" Says Haggins. BRANDY explodes in G.e's Surfing Videos as does the instrumental track "Theme" but it is the Phil Keegan era and songs like "Precarious" and "Number One" that amaze Haggins the Most; "Phil Keegan is one of rock's most important and most talented genius guitarists in the history of Popular Music,..I am honored to have gotten the chance to create music with him ,....his guitar changed rock music forever !!" Haggins blogs extensively about what he calls the absolute importance of Jango Radio and how he feels that bands need and must be on it; "If your band is still unsigned and not on Jango then you are not taking good care of your band,..the reality is,..you gotta be on there !" Says Haggins. Millions of People have been in either shock and awe or simply just pure horror at the end of the Guitar solo in Brandy but Haggins says that it is exactly apt; "If you know and Lived in the South Bay and Redondo Beach, and you know My Life ,..then you should completely understand that Guitar solo and the way it implodes and falls apart and sounds Like Fucking shit - 'that's" My Life !!" Says Higgins. ROCK CITY PRODUCTIONS BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS. 2012.

2,935,935 - Google Video 2008 - Google Music Videos are THE important way for Bands to Blast Plays and Get their Music heard in Cyberspace and "22nd Street" is the Song that Los Angeles' Greenhouse Effect use to Get maximum plays on the Web ! Equal parts U2, David Bowie, The Cure, The Alarm, and Morrisey, This track is an amazing Stunner on the Net for G.e. what with it's busy active Guitar work from Clark Haggins. "I wrote, produced, mixed, and played ALL of the instruments on '22nd Street' except for the bass by Ted ( Bassist_Rick_Carmody ) " Says Haggans. The atmospheric and ambient Song is such a classic of computer culture as it lumbers and moves along as if a Modern Rock Emo classic, hitting you with psychedelic moods yet modern rock textures. Carefully guitar layered by Clark Hagins and Producer Andrew "Dice" Houston in 1991 in the South Bay Studio 'Accessive Light and Sound' in Harbor City California. Haggans says that he painstakenly worked increibibly hard on the difficult but extremely pleasurable track into the night with Carmody and Houston, aggressively mixing and remixing the Song to indie rock perfection; "22nd Street is one of G.e's Proudest moments,....its a song that displays clearly that I wanna be one of the best of all time and I damn near achieve it here !! This song is a classic right there with "Brandy" and "It Ain't Easy" for atmospheres..." Up until September of 1990, Haggins had been the Drummer of the three piece Redondo Beach Band when it sported Monster Grunge Master Guitarist Phil Keegan up front but the group mutually parted ways with Keegan, allowing Haggins to not only play the drums in the studio but to also overdub his Pricelesss unique guitar style and textures. "Recording 'Going Legit' was a very pleasurable experience for Greenhouse Effect back in january and Feb of 91" Says Haggins "It was just two guys in Me and Carmody ,...you had one guy who just did all the bass and another guy who did everything else and Andy Producing,...we made studio magic ,..for live play, we hired one of Southern California's Greatest Drummers in San Pedro's Martin Silva ,..the guy is an amazing Drummer ,..and we also briefly played with Greg Tarpley back there ,..Both are masters of Percussion ,..the G.e. project became alot similar to Genesis and Phil Collins (Laughs) ,..the way we recorded n' all ,..except we're way better and more interesting than them !! (Laughs)" - Clark Haggins and Greenhouse Effect rock out hard with "Irie Bob", a 1992 Song that has grown into a classic of the web and seems to be a Song that has influenced the likes of Beck, Cake, and Weezer. "I just saw Weezer at that Del Mar Horse Racing Track in San Diego and Weezer is a band I respect ,... I don't like too many of the alternative bands after 1991 But I have admiration always for such a Great nice guy Like Rivers Cuomo and Pat Wilson too from Weezer" Says Haggins. Hagins attended the Weezer Show at Del Mar San Diego on August 6, 2011 and described the horse culture place as wild and "So bizarre of a venue for Rock n Roll" - "The Parking at Del Mar is aweful,...You get stuck in this dirt area near the i-5 Freeway where there are no reflector coat guys or gals there to lead you out,..its all ab Lib from there ! ,..up there in the dirt ,... I found the best way to drive out of Del Mar is to get under those tunnels and then you can go out there by where that Dennys is or Am Pm Mini mart 'err whudeverr that then goes North to the i-5 ,..its a 'hella aweful parking set up ,..and you have to walk for miles ,..me and my wife walked forever,..and she walks SLOW and the smell of Horse shit and fertilizer like stuff is everywhere - still it was fun !!" Says Higgins. "Our Songs are such an influence on major Labels like Geffen Records and my ideas too for concerts that I threw long ago at Wilson Park in Torrance CA seem to be the foundation for a show at such a weird place like Del Mar,..i know now that so many people enjoy my music and recognize me where ever me and my wife go ,..its ok ,..they can come up and talk to me at a concert ,..I am 46 years old and I'm just there to have fun ,..just like everyone else,... tonight's show was awesome" - "Irie Bob" from November 1992 and with it's fuzzy bass line , distorted guitar, and driving keyboards is an early Emo Song classic that seemed to come out of nowhere for G.e.; "That Song was entirely experimental" Says Haggans "That being said, ...it completely sounds Like G.e." Says Higgins. The repetitive distorted bass by Rick Carmody makes the song an epic. HAGGANS Says that his goal is to write tons of stuff about G.e. - blogging virtually every intimate informative detail of the legendary internet band; " My goal is almost practically to piss people off and get them angry with blogs ,..it seems like the more people hate G.e. ,..the more they end up liking G.e ,.. slowly over time, we become everybody's favorite band ,..they like reading ( and laughing at ) all the shit about G.e. in the blogs ,..the key to success on the web is a ton of over-information ,..thats what we've found that works - to Perfection !!!!" - ROCK CITY PRODUCTIONS BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS. 2011.
