Me and the ol' lady having fun testing the new Radio Popper Wireless Flash transmitters and receivers. This setup enables me to use my Canon 580 EX II Flashes externally and still maintain all Canon Controls right from the 5D & 7D ( Including High Speed Sync ). The 7D doesn't seem to work very well using the built in Infrared control (line of sight limitations), so I still use the ST-E2 transmitter + Radio Popper with the 7D. Just thought i'd share some of the examples testing both cameras.... I created my own little DIY double flash mount using an Over / Under technique to get much more balanced light into the umbrella. Update: Sample pics from the Poppers at vimeo.com/7257795 Just playing with some new toys I got in. These are the Radio Poppers wireless system that allows me to 'control' and fire my Canon 580 EX II's remotely. Keyword is 'Control' here people. Unlike the cheaper Wireless setups, these send the Canon Communication (normally infrared) wirelessly and then convert it back to Infrared through a window on the receivers. Also, it doesn't change how my Infrared setup works so basically 'not every flash needs a receiver'. Only the ones that may have problems with Line of Sight. With Wireless, I now no longer have 'Line of Sight' limitations. In fact, I believe they've tested this system outdoors at over 800 feet. The Radio Popper transmitter listens to a Master remote. This can be the ST-E2 (the one i'm using) or another 580 EX II. It listens to the Infrared, converts and sends the signal wirelessly, then the Radio Popper receiver (attached to the flash) converts the signal back to Infrared. This allows me to retain Canon communication to all the flashes right through my Camera and Master Remote. I can set ratios, power levels, control Groups of flashes, support High Speed Sync and more without having to walk over and adjust anything! Ok, it's all garble if you don't understand wireless High Speed Sync with Canon flashes, but just wanted to share my new Frankenstein....
