The Half Shell spoke with Natalia Andreeva, a Russian-born artist from Tallahassee, about the challenges of plein air execution, and her work. Also appearing is Joe Taylor of the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art where the Wet Room is staged, and one of the organizers of the event. Today, my grandfather Ed Pierce passed away peacefully just shy of his 92nd birthday. In 2005, my brother Scott began production on a PBS special about the heyday of Miami boxing featuring my grandfather, Ed Pierce, and boxing trainer Angelo Dundee. This would be released in 2010 as "Ringside Miami." After the documentary interviews, we sat down to record some family history for posterity. While Scott filmed with our mom in the background, I asked Pa to recall some of the more memorable stories that we'd heard growing up. While many of these stories may only be of interest to his family, several are just too good to keep to from sharing with others. While Good Ol' Pa (as his family knows him), my amazing grandfather, rests in peace... his amazing life stories live on. I love you Pa... say hi to Grandmother for us!
