Some no longer believe in the supermarket. Some have given up the idea of rent. And some wonder whether urban spaces have fundamentally failed the poor. In every case, western consumers still largely connected to the mainstream have faced the industrial extreme of modern capitalism in some area of their lives and found they don't want it any more. This film explores a loose group of alternative economic arrangements replacing the middle class norms of shopping, housing and education. Some have made these choices voluntarily, and some through the harsh reality of tight economic times. NOTE: This is a 24-minute, non-HD version intended as a framework for a full-length feature documentary. - Ben Szobody
