Sadly Economists, Policy makers and Government officials don't need a pair of magic glasses to conveniently ignore women's work. It is no joke. For women the result is low pay/ no pay, less power and women being first in line to pick up the slack when services are cut. Mediaco-op created this cartoon for Engender. Economics can be a bit dry and our job was to highlight issues and show impacts in an engaging way. We hope you like it. Engender are a organisation working to make woman's work visible. http://www.engender.org.uk/ To see more examples of our work see: http://mediaco-op.com/

Lilith Perfomance Studio at the performance festival at Kunstbanken in Hamar, Norway Date: October 30 –November 1 2009 Performance by: Melati Suryodarmo, Leif Holmstrand, Elin Lundgren & Petter Pettersson Lilith Performance Studio was invited to co-curate and participate at Kunstbanken in Hamar’s yearly performance festival. Lilith presented new works by the artists Leif Holmstrand, Melati Syryodarmo, Elin Lundgren and Petter Pettersson. Leif Holmstrand– Housework Duration: 20 min In Housework, Holmstrand wears a black nightgown over his normal men’s clothes, black ladies gloves on his hands and a plastic grocery bag over his head. Leif mixes together ten eggs, dried herbs, black pepper and some water. He places a tie on an iron board and brushes it with the egg and herbal mixture on both sides. With an oven paper on top of the tie he bakes it with an iron. When the tie is ready he gives it away to some one in the audience while signing a phrase from the musical Rocky Horror Picture Show - “Don’t dream it, / be it” repeatedly. Leif Holmstrand (b. 1972 lives and works in Malmö, Sweden) belongs to the younger generation's most interesting artists in Sweden today. With his art he combines traditional handcraft with a fascination for horror and burlesque popular culture. http://www.leifholmstrand.com/ The whole festival program: http://kunstbanken.no/?Arrangementer_%26amp%3B_Performance Lilith's website: http://lilithperformancestudio.com

Highlighting the current state of female domestic roles as well as the status of women in larger society and referencing techniques from screen classics such as Hans Richter’s Ghosts Before Breakfast, Mary Poppins and the American television show Bewitched, Salmon’s film portrays daily household chores being completed by themselves, without human interaction, as supernatural phenomenon.

I can listen to this song over and over again. In fact, I have. I just reflect on how good God is to me. Everyday is a day of thanksgiving. In my day to day walk with Jesus, miracles follows miracles and wonders never ever cease. Over the years, I have been on lock down--in mental institutions--once in the cold room--once in a straight jacket. Touched inappropriately as a child by two family members, God knows, I thought so many times I was "crazy.' But God..... He has given me a gift--my mind--sound and whole. He has given me music, poems, art--all to worship him. I praise him for that. This song - which I do not "own" is by Kim Burrell - who has blessed me with her music and ministry. I prayed years ago to be able to sing this song like I felt it. Today I sing this song exactly like I feel it--free and grateful. Note: No copyright infringement is intended.
