Pieced together from hundreds of video dispatches from the road, “Tom Sawyer on the Danube” is Xpedition.TV’s first original adventure film. It is a collaboration between filmmaker Ric Gibbs and a team of adventurers headed by Jamie Bowlby-Whiting, who try to make their way from England to Asia using only human power – and some pretty amazing means of going about it. The full film will be released this summer. See http://xpedition.tv/tom-sawyer-on-the-danube/ for details. MUSIC: Original score by Carvin Knowles ADDITIONAL MUSIC (this teaser only) "Words" by the Doves from their album Last Broadcast https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/words/id724582643?i=724582868

A bicycle powered skiing and climbing odyssey. This spring, myself and two of my closest friends left our winter home of Alta Utah and cycled north to climb in the City of Rocks and ski in the Sawtooth mountains. Over the course of 24 days we cycled almost 600 miles, successfully climbing and skiing along the way. This was a completely self-supported tour where we started out with all the gear required to climb and ski, and slowly purged unnecessary gear along the way. Shot entirely with an iPhone, edited with iMovie, narrated and scored by myself and a Goya steel 6 string, this is my first submission into a video contest and my first real attempt at filmmaking. Here's a taste of what we usually ski right off the mud room porch at AdventureSkier headquarters. This is a compilation of footage (from 2-3 different tours late in the 2010-11 season) celebrating one of our favorite backyard ski runs. Conditions right now are pretty similar, albeit we've got a bit more base to work with (but barely), and more solid crust to the surface (until we pick up another good dusting tonight!).

We are grassroots mountain climbers that are raising money for non-profit organic farming networks across the US and in Canada. This summer we completed our fifth expedition and our best one yet. Our success is largely due to the specific attention that we gave to our diet this year. By incorporating organic farm stops this summer in Montana and in British Columbia we were able to complete a three and half month endurance/challenge expedition on an all organic and plant-based diet. This years expedition took us (by bicycles) from our home in Bozeman, MT. all the way to the world famous Bugaboo Mountains in British Columbia. There we completed 15 routes on 10 summits, for a staggering 60,000 vertical feet of climbing. Then we rode our bicycles all the way back home.

The Mosquito is designed to be a very efficient human powered vehicle for long distance travelling. The 3 wheels “velomobile” is hand crafted in France and London by the Chambon brothers who are also the mind behind this concept for a car-free (or car-less) environment. The welder broke down, we got a new one. The kickstand has been amped up to support the weight of the bike. Changes have been made to the levers. I have put extra weight on them for more force created by themselves. I have also changed the socket wrenches from ones that take 11 degrees to lock to ones that take 5 degrees to lock. This is called handle swing and means that they lock sooner. And as a side note you want to believe in this concept as it has too many good things going for it. There is no way that you cannot believe in it. The second part of The Gearcycle project. I am replacing the frame that I have built onto the bike and am replacing it with part of a bike frame. This frame has greater strength as well as a bicycle bottom bracket. This means less flexing as well as less energy loss. I have put the bottom bracket on The Gearcycle for less energy loss. Just discussing the problems with The Gearcycle such as chain slack, flexing due to lack of strength, pay, bending feeling, levers taking time to lock, non bicycle chains and gears, a homemade gearbox. Tags

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
