Lord Lamont and Richard Bacon MP were confronted by Peter Tatchell and Ahwazi Arabs from Iran. The Ahwazi Arabs were protesting against Tehran’s exploitation of their homeland oil reserves, ecological devastation caused by the oil industry and anti Arab racism and human rights abuses. They peacefully disrupted and briefly occupied a UK and Iranian business meeting at NIOC London Headquarters. © Jason N. Sex trafficking is forced prostitution and an extreme form of violence against women. Victims have no choice and no voice. Like other forms of human trafficking, such as forced labour, sex trafficking is a crime. Many survivors are recruited through a betrayal of trust or the promise of a better life, then manipulated, intimidated, confined, threatened, and beaten. Many are forced into debt-bondage or drug addiction. Few escape, and those who do, face a long and lonely journey to recovery. Salva Nos (Save Us) relies in the roots of creating awareness, inform and educate about the problem, and introduces a very important question: "What am I going to do about it?" Starring: Hannah Pederson, Milli Wilkinson, Yvonne Chapman, Xander France, Connor Mackay, Samantha Schimmer, Anna Reicher,Cindy Pervan and Kristopher Nielsen Directed by: Adriana Comsa Produced by: King Louie Palomo Produced by: Adan Ruiz, Rafael Soler Story by: Adriana Comsa Screenplay by: Jesse Werk Cinematography by: Zach Zhao Production Design by: Talitha Nathan Edited by: Jeannette Moesgen Music by: Matthew Chung, ScoreSound Music Sound Design: Pablo Betancourt

Through the Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) project and with support from the UK Department for International Development, Afghanaid has continued to improve access to economic opportunities for poor women in Badakhshan. This is a unique project for three reasons: firstly, in its scale- WEE covers more than 300 villages and 14,000 women, secondly, 100 per cent of the project participants are female, and thirdly, the project is being led and implemented by an almost all-female team. With equipment provided by Afghanaid, these women are using the knowledge they have acquired to start small businesses, increase their family income, improve the nutrition of their children and become successful community leaders. Special thanks go to Jana, Elham and their team in Badakhshan, as well as all the women who were interviewed as part of this project.

Most street corners in the United States now have curb cuts to accommodate wheelchairs. For the visually impaired, elevators have buttons with Braille characters and announce the floor on which they stop. Movies and television shows offer closed caption text for the hearing impaired. These are just a few examples of how the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has helped disabled people gain greater independence, inclusion and equal opportunity. The State Department’s Special Advisor for Persons with Disabilities Judy Heumann said disability rights “are not only important to those who may have a disability. Many others are touched by disability, even if they don’t talk about it.” “We strengthen those advocates on the ground, their friends and family members, when we DO talk about it, and when we strengthen advocates on the ground, we strengthen their societies too,” she said. Tune in to this on-demand recorded discussion focused on the history and implications of the ADA with Heumann, Ann Cody, an International Paralympian and member of the International Paralympic Committee, and King Jordan, the former president of Gallaudet University.
