    • In the Mist of Ice

      from Felipe Rojas Added 26.4K 483 244

I know many of you in the northern lands must be a little tired of snow by now, but please bear with me while I share my short winter film of the snowfall we had late last week. Snow is a rarity in this part of the US, so it’s always an event when we do get it here in the south. I’m afraid this didn't last long, though – I was watching it fall off the trees as I recorded my footage, and I think that's what makes the video particularly interesting. This short video hopefully conveys the way I experienced it all through my camera's viewfinder. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for watching. Some under ice views from beautiful lake Saarijärvi in Vaala, Finland. Divers: Fisherman: Eelis Rankka Fisherman's friend: Tommi Salminen Boy with the balloon: Jukka Pelttari Camera and editing by: Juuso Mettälä Manuscript by J. Mettälä and Eelis Rankka Safety divers: Esa Vuoppola and Juhana Heino Music: Stefano Mocini; The end of the doubs Couple of things about this video: Camera I used was Sony HDR-SR11 with Amphibico HD Elite housing. The Wheelbarrow was saved from the bottom of the lake and I have used it many times after that. The rubber duck and the balloon are also home with me. None of the divers got any permanent damage either. And yes, we had a lot of fun making this video. -Juuso

Iceland. Land of contrasts: Hot water and Ice, situated in the North Atlantic, right above the mid-ocean ridge that separates America and Europe. Shooting was done in two stays (2 weeks each) in 2005 & 2006 (both in September) with a result of 15 hours of footage. Camera was a SONY Z1. I used some COKIN semi-grey Filters in some of the shots to get the sky as dark as I wanted it to be. Almost no color correction was done in the post, but the timelapse and slo-mo. You can buy this footage at www.artbeats.com/companies/35?month=6&year=2009

                from MAMMOTH Added 103K 2,402 188

More than half the homes on Lake Lotawana belong to “weekenders” who only visit during summer. This is what the rest of us do after they leave. Lake Lotawana will also be the primary location for our first feature film that we've already begun shooting! Find out more information about the film at www.LotawanaMovie.com We actually had no plans of creating this video. But rather, since it was the first weekend of solid ice in 2015, we simply picked up a camera, walked down to the dock, strapped on our skates and joined the other lake rats already enjoying the brilliant weather. Then a couple days later, we realized it's been a while since our last home video and decided to throw a quick edit together. Let us know what you think! ferrie=differentieel: "The original idea of The Ice Song was to make a song for an art installation about cold and warmth. Only the cold stayed specially the Inuit Throat-Singing from Canada while we lost the warmth during the process. In the beginning there was only the music. Then Rian wrote the poem for this project and Robbert used his voice to give the text its power. For the video images I already knew that I should ask Ben to do the editing. On one of my visits at his home I saw these images and that completed my project. But not without the titling done by Jöran Maaswinkel." "I am very happy with the result of this project and I like to thank all friends for their patience and efforts."
