'Theatre Book - Macbeth' is a battery powered cinematic pop-up book. The prototype book includes 6 pop-up pages designed like sets on a stage with actors projected onto the paper scenery. All technical equipment such as a micro projector and computer, batteries, loudspeakers and mirroring devices are integrated into the cover of the book in order to create a stand alone storytelling device, mixing the formats of books and theatre stages. The story is driven by the owner of the book who turns the pages and thus triggers video and sound to play out the scenes. In this prototype the story of Macbeth is being told through visuals and music/sound only. Theatre Book is a development of The Icebook, the world‘s first projection mapped pop-up book: www.theicebook.com Theatre book is a collaboration between Davy & Kristin McGuire, Matt Hayler and the Royal Shakespeare Company, supported by the REACT Knowledge Exchange Hub for the Creative Economy. REACT is a collaboration led by UWE Bristol (the University of the West of England), Watershed and the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Commissioned by Altered, Contemporary Art in Ancient Churches, Ophelia‘s Ghost is an installation featuring a holographic projection of a drowning woman into water. Shakespeare‘s tragic character Ophelia, a young woman who drowned herself, has inspired many strikingly beautiful paintings and images. In this piece the water surface of an old basin is used as a canvas for the haunting hologram of Ophelia‘s ghost submerged under the water‘s surface. The piece was first exhibited in September 2014 at St. John the Baptist Church in Colsterworth, England and is available for touring and exhibitions.

Commissioned by and developed for the Royal Shakespeare Company and later adapted for the Enchanted Parks, Sprite Symphony is a magical installation using projections and sound to create a beautiful yet dark display of fairies that have been trapped in jam jars and are trying to escape their glass cages. The fairies knock and tap on their jars and thereby create a polyphonic musical composition. The sprites are currently exhibited in a Victorian display cabinet in the RSC theatre foyer in Stratford upon Avon, they also featured in the windows of the park keeper‘s shed at the Enchanted Parks in December 2013.
