This video highlights the scenery of Iliamna Lake and Lake Aleknagik in Southwest Alaska. These two watersheds provide spawning habitat for some of the largest returns of wild sockeye salmon from Bristol Bay, and also serve as important habitat for the development and growth of salmon in their early stages of life. As a keystone species in Bristol Bay, sockeye salmon are of large economic importance to the commercial fishing industry and local lodge outfits, they serve as an important food source for local communities, and also support the diverse and amazing ecosystems within these watersheds. www.JasonSChing.com https://www.facebook.com/ChingJasonS Produced and edited - Jason Ching Additional footage - Hannah Stapleton Songs Message to Bears - Running Through Woodland Message to Bears - Hidden Beneath

This video showcases the scenery of Iliamna Lake and shows some of the 2013 research of the Alaska Salmon Program's Iliamna Lake research station, one of four main facilities in Southwest Alaska . Established in the 1940's, the Program's research has been focused on ecology and fisheries management relating primarily to salmon and the environment in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Check out our program at: http://fish.washington.edu/research/alaska/ I am so very grateful to be a part of such a long standing program that allows me to work in the field in such an incredible setting with fantastic folks. I created this video to simply show family and friends back at home what I've been up to during the summer and I am truly overwhelmed at the public response the video has gotten. It has certainly been my pleasure sharing the beautiful scenery of Alaska and a little bit of our work with you. Filmed and edited by Jason Ching Additional footage provided by Cyril Michel This video was often shot between, or during field sampling events so a special thanks goes out to all those who supported me by continuing to work while I shot clips as well.
