His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji's deep concern for the preservation of our environment has manifested itself in Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Mysore as Kishkindha Moolika Bonsai Garden, Ashwashala (Horse stables), Goshala (Cow shelters) and Shuka Vana (rehabilitation centre for birds). Parrots are not just agreeable birds with their chirping sounds and attractive, vivid colors. Parrots have a specific spiritual connection with the nine planets (Navagrahas), the twelve zodiac signs (Rasis related to birth stars), the numerals of the dates in each month, and the seven musical notes Sa, Ri, Ga, Ma, Pa, Da, Ni (Saptaswaras) in Indian classical music. With divine intuition, Sri Swamiji has identified sets of species of parrots that represent each of the above as its vibrant, living, breathing, visible presiding deity. Seeing these divine parrots and providing them nourishment, shelter, and care enhances good fortune and heightens positive energy. The parrots are related to each of us either by representing our birthdate, zodiac sign, or the planet or musical note that stimulates us.

Shot with the Canon 60D DSLR using Canon's 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 lens. Editing and post production done in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. Narration Part I: Nehru's speech on the eve of India's Independence. Narration Part II: Nehru's speech on Gandhi's death. Music: "Journey to the Line" by Hans Zimmer. Filmed and edited by Rishi Kaneria. A Tryst With Destiny: "Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment, we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity."

Important information about this Short Film: On 26th September 2012 Secretory Hilary Clinton made one video presentation in the United Nations General Assembly about Food Security and the need to help alleviate hunger around the world. One small piece of this short film was used in this video presentation. In this video at 6: 33 a Father & Daughter are eating on the road, this portion was used in the video presentation. An I re edit this entire video without any back ground Music. This video was shot in December 2009 at IIM Road, Ahmedabad (India). It was cold day early in the morning. This video shows life of poor people who stays on road side, they are homeless. They earn INR 150 = $3, if husband and wife both works they will get double means INR 300 = $6. They spend each day about INR 100 = $2, for their living expenses, and $1 or $2 they save. They get up early in the morning, have their tea and make some food and go for work and return at 8PM and make dinner. They are homeless, no insurance, but live very happily. They are alive! New notes added: Yes, they earn very less. I see them at same place, they are still there! Same life what they are in this film. I still have not come across to some answer,s never wanted to put them in embarrassing moment by asking them. Just think they do not have home so forget about toilet, what is solution for that? They must go for it in open area and that too in dark time, so people can not see them. Just imagine if any of these male, female, old or children get in them self diarrhea then! Just imagine if it is heavy rain early in the morning then how they do their daily morning activities? Huh! Want to make second part of this short film in which I would like to take them in some places where they can never imagine to go in their dream! This will take time, this require some money, maybe I could have sale this original RAW footage and can have some money and would have use for their entertainment. I do not know where we can try to sale and I am afraid who will buy? Kaushik More on my city Ahmedabad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmedabad

                    from Pacific Pictures / Added

What happens to a dream when it becomes reality? Does it still exist somewhere, in some ethereal place, waiting to come to fruition again? Could a fictional narrative capture an emotional state, and the true meaning behind a real, live event with more drama and conviction than a traditional documentary? These were just some of the questions that arose when we took on the “CITY OF LAKES” project. First and foremost, it would become an unprecedented attempt to combine a fully scripted narrative production with Melissa & Samir's real, live wedding. All with the intention of creating one, seamless film. The live wedding and production would be shot entirely on-location in Udaipur, India over a period of nine days. Our skeleton crew would consist solely of live event filmmakers from across North America, who would shoot the live wedding events and production simultaneously under some very challenging conditions, exclusively on HDSLRs, the Canon 5D Mark II and 7D. “CITY OF LAKES” is as much a story about what it means to return to the home of one’s ancestors, as it is an exploration of the Hindu faith, and the rituals of a Hindu marriage. Central to this is the Ganesh pooja, which in simple terms, is a prayer over a fire believed to invoke the spirit of Ganesh, a deity and protector, who Hindus believe can remove all obstacles from one’s path. The pooja is performed several times in the film and carries great significance to the plot and characters in both literal and metaphoric ways. Melissa & Samir had always dreamed of being married in India. We hope this film helps them cherish that dream while achieving more than a documentary, and perhaps simultaneously, more than a scripted film. We are thankful for the acting talents and professionalism of Anubhab Saha, Sharon Chawda and Rushad Rana; and the amazing support of our sponsors: Canon, Tiffen/Steadicam, and Cinevate. There is a final question we hope you’ll find difficult to answer as you watch our film. In more ways than one, try to answer: What is real? Daily life in the Indian holy cities of Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Devprayag. This region lies in the foothills of the Himalayas where the Ganges River descends from the mountains. I visited not knowing what to expect, and I was both awed and saddened by the experience. The beauty of nature and the Hindu ceremonies contrasted with the poverty and suffering on the streets. The people I met had a high-spirited resilience that seemed to stem from surviving and maintaining their devotion through a challenging life.
