from Alexis Grey Hildreth Added 50 2 0

STALKING SELF video, found images, multimedia, 2013 Stalking Self is part of an ongoing series of collaged animated narratives using image and sound sourced from popular media. Stalking Self explores the process of individuation, the relationship between predator and prey, and the erasure of personal history. The moment to moment (re)construction of the separate self, its illusion, is painstakingly held up to the point of exhaustion and crisis. The matrices of neurosis are used to build a platform for the deconstruction of identity.

I got the idea that the coincidence of individuation and socialization could be a solution to Nietzsche's intellectual loneliness as he described in Zarathustra. More individuality in communication styles should be allowed for interactions and networks. The entire network would benefit from new ideas and unorthodox reflections. Individuals themselves would benefit from network services.

                from Aaron Williams Added 14 0 0

Individuation is an audiovisual installation inviting us to consider the drastic effect that certain aspects of our childhood can have upon our emotional and cognitive development, and the holistic benefits that exploring and examining ones former self can present us with. The installation consists of digitised home videos from my childhood. These have then been edited into 20 individual 20-minute duration videos. Which are then concurrently projected and mapped onto 20 custom built screens. The screens were designed and arranged to resemble a phrenological chart, phrenology being the Victorian pseudo science concerned with measurements of the skull and how certain thoughts and emotions are localised in parts of the brain. The screens are constructed out of chicken wire and mod roc, these were suspended from scaffolding via fishing wire and fixed in place with cable ties. A 5.1 sound bed consisting of 20 individual time stretched recitals of the Philip Larkin poem ‘This Be The Verse’ support these audio happenings. - Presented for the third year BA(Hons) Music Production degree show.

Davis McLane Connelly’s drawings of youthful figures in lifelike, yet surrealistic scenarios are on view this January 2013 at The Fridge. In a departure from previous works shown in this series, Davis employs both human and animal form in his pursuit to realize this dream-like exploration of the metaphorically composed psyche concept individuation. The exhibit opens Saturday, January 5, 7 – 11pm, and is on view through January 27. Davis will have an artist talk on Sunday, January 6, 2 – 3pm. More information at www.thefridgedc.com

This short film seemed to will itself into being - it started as a small project that was plagued at every turn by disaster - but, miraculously, it grew and morphed at each hurdle it faced and became more and more meaningful and personal as a result. It is, broadly speaking, a story of a man letting go and finding himself, much as this video found its own way almost despite our involvement. This video is without dialogue and external action. It's also incredibly personal. It was very important and cathartic for us to make. But we made it earnestly, as a gift for whomever sees it. We hope it strikes a chord and continues to live without us. -Wilding/Augusto Directed By Wilding/Augusto Produced by George Augusto and Michael Shifflett Cinematography/Editing by Andrew Wilding Featuring Gregory Rogove and Frankie Ingrassia Music: "Carolyn" by Greg Rogove (From the album PIANA)http://www.gregoryrogove.com/yobananaboy/piana.html http://www.knittingfactoryrecords.com/artists/gregory-rogove/ and "Shaker Loops" by John Adams.
