1. Physiquality blog: Improving your balance

    from PTPN Inc Added 3 0 0

While focusing on balance (or the lack thereof) is often associated with aging and fall prevention, improving your balance and stability should be a key part of any exercise regimen. Many exercise classes incorporate balance activities into their routine, whether you realize it or not. Athletes in particular often focus on balance and stability as it can help to improve both coordination and performance, while reducing the risk for injury. from Jon Ham Added 134 0 0

The ability of the TRX to displace ones center of gravity while creating limitless planes of motion and movement angles makes it an amazing tool for training the body in three dimensions. Indo Board was created to take people away from their typical stable environments by creating instability which in turn trains the mind and body to improve balance, proprioception, coordination, postural awareness and neuromuscular response. We believe the TRX is the best tool for training in 3-D, therefore, combining it with the Indo Board takes it to the next level. Training in 4-D. TRX, Indo Board, Jon Ham, and You Lee Rodriguez collaborated on this project to create a workout further challenging the TRX user by taking the normally stable contact point whether it's the feet or hands, and adding instability to that point. The net result is a workout that provides increased muscular recruitment along with a greater challenge to the bodies balance and stabilization systems producing a more dynamic result. Thanks to You Lee Rodriguez for the great background beats! Anthony Vela and Candice Appleby of Performance Paddling organized and put on an unreal SUP event for kids only. Racing in the surf and a surf contest made for an exciting event. Pretty hard side onshore winds throughout the day but the kids were all smiles and conquered the less than favorable conditions with good attitudes! Hopefully this becomes an annual event.

The National Strength and Conditioning Association recently published a study on the physiological demands seen in competitive surfing. Surprising to most was that the results stated that the most important measurable was Endurance, specifically when paddling. Unfortunately, most surfers training regimen consists of yoga classes and doing squats on swiss balls (sidenote- if you are doing these, please STOP!!! The risk greatly outweighs the reward. Try Indo Boards instead). At EZIA Human Performance, we have always pushed our surfers heart rates to the limits, improving both their aerobic (steady-state paddling) and anaerobic (sprinting for a wave) Endurance. Whether you're a weekend warrior trying to get the most waves in a session or an ASP tour surfer at Lowers at the Hurley Pro, you can benefit from increased Endurance. Check out this Battling Ropes Circuit, try it at home and catch more waves!!!!
