Godot doesn’t exist, but still with combination of opportunities that don’t have any constraints or with accomplishments that bring someone to the self-determination, Godots existence is abstract of one’s freedom. In virtual plane of thoughts the idea of unrestricted freedom is possible, but that’s not the case in formulation of thoughts into the words or one’s feelings. Virtual freedom, like Godot, doesn’t exist, but it makes us being on alert for a chance that somehow does exist. It’s more a question of hope and faith than reality. Godot doesn’t exist, but yet he has finally arrived as BwO, a pure possibility in virtual world that corresponds with its lost in reality. This exhibition is part of larger project about freedom.

Haemoglobin is an interactive architectural projection of artificial blood. It was projected onto the walls of the Alte Fleischmarkthalle (old meat market hall) on the slaughrterhouse area of Karlsruhe in 2011. A continuous flood of blood emerges from underneath the roof. If observers step between projection and building and throw a shadow onto the projection, additional blood originates from within the shadows. The architectural elements of the building are taken into account to calculate the flow of blood. It slows down and speeds up when touching windows, pillars and plants. Not a single drop of real blood was shed for the installation. Thank you to Katharina Langpeter and Mojique Vincent Herrmann of Wunschkultur, Thomas de Filippi for technical support, Prof. Bielicky and Dominique Allard for projectors and power, Jörg Stegmann for the camera and Insa Foce for her assistance.

Realized in the course of a 3 months residency in Mexico city, this responsive installation is inspired by a famous metaphor for the brain. Invented by the pioneering neuroscientist Charles S. Sherrington, in which he poetically describes his conception of what happens in the cerebral cortex during arousal from sleep: The great topmost sheet of the mass, that where hardly a light had twinkled or moved, becomes now a sparkling field of rhythmic flashing points with trains of traveling sparks hurrying hither and thither. The brain is waking and with it the mind is returning. It is as if the Milky Way entered upon some cosmic dance. Swiftly the head mass becomes an enchanted loom where millions of flashing shuttles weave a dissolving pattern, always a meaningful pattern though never an abiding one; a shifting harmony of subpatterns.[1] Sherrington, C.S. (1942). Man on his nature. Cambridge University Press. p. 178.
