For the millions of women and girls whose lives have been uprooted by the more than three-year-old Syrian crisis, daily life is an exhausting struggle - from navigating foreign cities or refugee camps, to trying to stay safe and avoid harassment, to grappling with the threat of domestic violence in their own homes. The IRC has established women's centers across Northern Jordan to provide a safe space for these women. In this video, take a look inside the center, and hear from the staff and the women it serves. Port Loko, Sierra Leone, has experienced a dramatic upsurge in Ebola cases. To combat the spread of the disease, the IRC built three new isolation units where suspected cases will be screened. The IRC’s Daniel Brickert gave a colleague, Yolanda Barbera, this tour of one of the facilities while preparations for its opening were underway. (The unit opened at the end of December.) South Sudan, the world’s newest nation, is also one of its poorest. In December 2013, fighting erupted between government forces and rebel factions. Nearly a year after the start of the conflict, 1.9 million people have been displaced from their homes and are in need of food, healthcare and safety. The International Rescue Committee has been providing emergency assistance to more than 800,000 people. We're also urging the international community to support the protection of civilians and push a lasting political resolution to this crisis. Learn more at http://www.Rescue.org/SouthSudan.
