It's a 4th of July-themed episode, as we look at UNCLE SAM, the quirky horror film with a conscience directed by MANIAC's William Lustig. When Sam's body is discovered in Kuwait, he still has some fight left in him, despite being dead and all. Once he returns home, he starts eliminating the undesirables in his hometown. But as we discover along with Sam's number one fan Jody, there is a big difference between serving your country and appeasing your own demons. UNCLE SAM is written by Larry Cohen (IT'S ALIVE, THE STUFF, PHONE BOOTH) and features a cast that includes: P.J. Soles (ROCK N ROLL HIGH SCHOOL, CARRIE), Isaac Hayes (TRUCK TURNER, SHAFT's musician extradordinaire), Robert Forster (MEDIUM COOL, JACKIE BROWN), William Smith (RUN ANGEL RUN, CONAN THE BARBARIAN, ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN), Bo Hopkins (THE WILD BUNCH, MIDNIGHT EXPRESS) and Timothy Bottoms (THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, THE PAPER CHASE). It's a campy, gory flick that also has some interesting things to say about America and what it means to serve it. FAIR USE PROVISIONS -- U.S. COPYRIGHT LAW TITLE 17, CHAPTER 1, ARTICLE 107: Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.
