Join us on Friday, April 17th at 12-2PM as we showcase Crossroads ~ An Oral History, a video compilation of interviews celebrating the musical and cultural legacy of Pittsburgh's Hill District during the golden era of Jazz. Listen to good music and eat good food, while revered Hill District residents like Lillian Allen, and legendary Pittsburgh musicians such as Roger Humphries, George "Duke" Spaulding, and Dr. Nelson Harrison share their personal accounts, memories, and anecdotes ~ giving us a front seat view into The Hill District's hey-day of music, entertainment, and historic richness. Following the preview, the audience will have an opportunity to share their own Hill District memories and create a community conversation about the importance of retaining our stories during the current climate of change and revitalization in The Hill District community. If you are not able to attend the April event, Crossroads ~ An Oral History will make its second debut on Friday, June 19th 12-2PM, kicking off this year's Pittsburgh JazzLive Festival. This project is sponsored by the Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh Fund from The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments, a Seed Award from The Sprout Fund, and Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Videography provided by Ivette Spradlin Other collaborators include Kaufmann Center, Hill House Association, The Hill Community Development Corporation, and Jazzspace.

This is a song I wrote a day in February 2015. It is supposed to sound angry, and it should be played with energy, but on this recording i play it more and more beautifully, by some reason I cannot tell. It is made up of 16 bars and can be divided into four parts of bars each: ABCD (4+4+4+4).
