The various elements move within this three dimensional space, like parts of a dynamic painting that condenses a whole series of references to contemporary art: from the constructivism of Moholy-Nagy, to the historic abstracts of Mondrian and Klee, and on to the more recent experience of conceptual and kinetic art. Changing shapes, plays of colour and transforming surfaces compose a dynamic universe that is both alienating and fascinating at the same time." Invideo 2010, Italy "An exciting experiment in the tradition of Oskar Fischinger (Komposition in Blau, 1935), Dwinell Grant (Composition No. 1, 1940) and Slavko Vorkapich (Abstract Experiment in Kodachrome, 1950s). Max Hattler presents a well-done interaction between music and moving images. Space is turned upside down and the animated objects become faceless dancers in a constructivist ballet." Vienna Independent Shorts 2010, jury statement by Anton Fuxjäger "Max, AANAATT is one of your most beautiful animations. I often show it as an outstanding example to my students. Above all, the work is NOT just another demonstration of technique or technology, but rather a classic in the field of Visual Music, and a unique example of creative ingenuity and elegant design." Robert Darroll, media artist, 2011

The latest film by W+K Tokyo Lab creator, Genki Ito. A curiosity toward science unfolds into an unknown world... Taking as its inspiration the sub-atomic world of a nuclear fusion reaction, Clarte visually re-imagines this microcosm into a beautifully poetic animation, pulsing and flowing along with Jemapur’s dark and textured sound. Experimenting with HDV recording, analog footage of milk floating on water, sediment in rotten wine, and caustics from reflected projector lights were all incorporated into the digital animation.

Here's the video for 60-second station ID for Space Shower TV, Japan's largest music channel. The stream of water is coming down through the tubes attached to a speaker. The camera was set to film the running water in the same frame rate as the low frequency wave of the speaker, which creates the unique optical illusion of the vibrating droplets appear to freeze in the mid-air and running backwards. It was shot without a high-speed camera, any computer graphics, nor post process such as reversing. The director of this very first film work produced by JKD Collective is Kosai Sekine, an award winning Japanese film director. The Japanese contemporary dancer, Masako Yasumoto's movement synchronizes with water and the music by Jemapur as if she is floating through time and velocity.
