This is 15-minute excerpt of 25-minute cameraless animation on clear 70mm (!) leader made for the 8th Orphan Film Symposium by Danielle Ash and Jodie Mack. A student from NYU Moving image Archiving and preservation shot this document at the Museum of Moving Image on April 12, 2012. This was the only time the film was ever projected for a public audience. Soundtrack: selections from The Carl Stalling Project

Marchaloops #26 (silent). Made with vintage Magic Cover brand adhesive-backed colored plastic rolls (often called "contact paper," I suppose derived from "shelf paper" and this being sticky, hence "contact"), this one in a gorgeous stained glass pattern, which I cut into strips and stuck onto clear 16mm motion picture movie film leader. Here the Magic Cover is seen "virgin", just cut somewhat randomly without other alterations. A small roll of this material I bought years ago deep in a dark thrift store near San Jose, CA has yielded a tremendous amount of loop footage for me in various incarnations. Direct animation trivia fans note this exact same stuff used toward magnificent ends by Jodie Mack in her breakthrough hit film "A Joy" (2005) - see it here - http://vimeo.com/8375376. Meanwhile this one goes out to my Oly local compadre in moving graphics and impressionable minds, Ruth Hayes.

#1 in the Marchaloops series - I'm setting myself a challenge to put a loop a day online, all month long. In like a lion, out like a lamb, and beware the ides in between. Made with crazy Japanese sticky tape stuck onto clear 16mm leader. Said tape was procured at the magical convenience store that Dory and I found at the entrance to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park last summer. "Hurricane Plaid" is dedicated to Jodie "Rad Plaid" Mack, plaid to know ya!
