This is the graphic open for a documentary on the photographer Joel Peter Witkin, due out Summer 2013. I happened to be asked by Joel to be the subject for the photo, "Execution of an Extraterrestrial. Petersburg. Virginia. 1864." Serendipity is an interesting thing—this photo happened to be filmed by the documentary crew and I also became involved in the open for the film. The open was created in Cinema 4D, using VRay for C4D, After Effects and Photoshop. Information on "Joel Peter Witkin: An Objective Eye" can be found here. http://www.witkinmovie.com

Politics • Art • Religion • Revolution This documentary features interviews with a variety of individuals and opinions that were encountered on a year long road trip around the United States taken by Shane and Amy Bugbee with their dog and turtle. They discuss four topics we are told to never discuss in polite company - Politics, Art, Religion and Revolution. This is a State of the Nation address, not from the White House but from the People of America, the artists, the scholars, the back alley philosophers, and regular folks. "We documented America for a year, traveling across the USA gathering stories and talking to a wide variety of Americans about the State of our Nation. We sought out scholars, artists, and trailer trash, the often overlooked demographics and forgotten zip codes, the elders who are these days cast aside by society. We stayed out of "Orange County", we didn't go to the homes of the "Rich and Fabulous". We saw real America, and it will surprise you!" A couple, a dog and a turtle, on the road from November 4th, 2007 until the election 12 months later, when we would land in Washington DC for Election Day, never covering the Democratic or Republican trail. This is about the people of our nation and their thoughts on America, the American Dream, and the topics that separate us. This is an experimental movie, edited completely in iMovies, on a laptop, on a lap, in an RV, on the beach. With: Ian MacKaye, Joel Peter Witkin, Mike Diana, Jeff Becerra, William H. McNeill, Dr. David Menton, John Sinclair, Timothy Wyllie, Steven Leyba, Craig Newmark, Ugly Shyla, Dave Archer, Gene Hoglan, Dennis Banks, Szandora Lavey, Ryen McPherson, Mike IX Williams, Edwin Kagin, Mark Looy, Dr. David Mention, Andre Hensley, Martin Atkins and many more Americans from every walk of life.

Right before we arrived in Albuquerque, NM, we found out one of our favorite artists, Joel Peter Witkin lived there. We called him up and he declined Amy's request to interview him, but said to call back, so she did, and he said no again. This went on and on, it seemed he said no to our request for an interview, to the day we arrived for the interview. He became one of the sages of the road who answered our questions before they were asked. His advice was wise and precise. It made us think and think again.
