HereEast is a new development of creative space in Hackney Wick that is intended solely for the benefit of creatives and the creative industry. Creative agency Poke was charged with building an identity and campaign to promote this space to it's target audience which included creating a "Vision film" that set the mood for this epic creative space. The creatives at Poke formulated the idea of shunning CGI and, instead, involving animatronics expert John Nolan to build a huge robot head to address the target audience. Dubbed "Ethel" this 8ft robot head spoke in direct address to camera explaining the vision for the space. This video, is an interview with it's creator John Nolan about the building of Ethel and working on the project. I lit, shot and edited all the footage (barre the opening and closing clips from the vision film itself) contained within this short video.
