    Customized Communications Inc. approached 900lbs with the challenge of creating high end 3D animations for their upcoming "Gift of Motherhood" app. Within a two month timeline, we produced a total of 10 looping animations capable of playing on smart phones, tablets and computer based internet browsers. We provided a complete turnkey solution from look development and modeling to animation and final composites. To capture a stylized but naturalistic impression of the fetal development cycle, we implemented a number of advanced 3D techniques including subsurface scattering, painted HD textures, and custom shader networks. 10,764 frames later, we completed and sent off our little bundle of joy on time to be included in the soon to debut app for Android and iOS devices.

          Stewart came to 900lbs because they needed help with content for a couple of displays around the perimeter of their booth, including the centerpiece display. They had created a unique rear-projection solution taking semi-rigid screen material and bending it in an S-Curve for a wave effect. Stewart's intention was to use this as an attention grabber, to showcase capabilities, and to draw new customers into their booth. They knew, however, that without the right content people would just walk on by.  "We received a referral from a partner for 900lbs of Creative and handed them our challenge. We were amazed at how quickly they were able to understand our vision and compress it into a simple two minute marketing video. Not only did they deliver compelling, visually-stunning content, but they delivered the results we were looking for in increased traffic. Our leads for the 2012 show were up 18% vs. 2011, compared to just a 4% increase in overall show attendance. We couldn’t be more pleased with this result!"               900lbs most recent project with The Dallas Mavericks uses our inspiration from 80s and 90s video games, and one of the Mavs greatest players and personalities: Shawn Marion. The Super Marion Bros concept came about years ago, but only recently was able to become a reality. Using assets from our media day photo-shoot as well as original 8-Bit sound-bites from the game, we recreated a two-dimensional level for Super Marion Bros, including an 8-Bit recreation of the American Airlines Center. Shawn played the part perfectly, and loved the costume so much…he wouldn't give it back to us!

              • UT Arlington Division of Enterprise Development Conference Video

                The University of Texas at Arlington has been a long time client of 900lbs, and our most recent project with them included partnering with the UT Arlington Division of Enterprise Development, which focuses on public service, community outreach and lifelong learning. Wanting to reach a broader audience, the DED program needed a visual story that used tag lines and themes relevant to their programs that would help raise awareness of their services. Because of a quick turnaround time, we chose to create our story using still photography and used various parallax effects to help bring those visuals to life. Combined with a great audio track, this piece engages the audience and effectively describes who the Division of Enterprise Development is, and the great public service that they do. This piece was used as the opening for the 2012 OSHA Oil & Gas Safety Conference which had 1600 attendees.

                • Perot Museum - Sports Run Exhibit

                  "Since we opened the new building on December 1st, it is clear this exhibit is the crowd favorite! There are always people lined up to run against our virtual athletes…even classroom groups are cheering as their teachers take their turn at competing," Dan Kohl, Vice President for Creativity & Innovation at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The Client: The Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas The Strategy: Partner with the Perot Museum and the Science Museum of Minnesota to create an interactive exhibit to anchor the Sports Hall, an entire floor of the Perot Museum where patrons can learn and experience the science and technology behind running. The main objectives of the exhibit were to be physically stimulating, environmentally friendly and easily updatable. The Experience: As the content provider for the exhibit, we were responsible for creating life-size computer animated and live action characters for attendees to interact with on the 55ft interactive wall. For the live-action characters, a challenging setup of 12 HD cameras, 72ft of green screen and a crew of 22 was needed to film athletes ranging from professional football to gymnastics. Computer generated characters were modeled and textured from research, photography and many discussions with the museum’s curators. A maquette from the movie Jurassic Park was used to create the the Tyrannosaurs rex, and the Cheetah Conservation Fund provided invaluable input towards the animation of the Cheetah.                   • Perot Museum - Projection Mapping

                    Projection Mapping is the process that effectively animates stationary objects (such as a building) with moving imagery projected onto it's surface. Taking into account the various angles and exterior elements of structures, projection mapping brings inanimate objects to life, creating a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience for the audience. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science worked directly with Dallas based company, 900lbs of Creative, to create a visual story on the museum's distinctive exterior. 900lbs has created compelling content for a broad range of "canvases" over the years but this was a truly unique opportunity. Guests of the Night at the Museum: Discover the Perot event on November 17th were welcomed by the 150ft by 100ft custom video, which used bold colors and illustrations inspired by the geometric shapes of the building to artistically represent the 11 halls of the museum. For each hall, the 900lbs team conceptualized a story inside of a diorama box that looked as if it was in the museum. "This has been an incredible project for the 900lbs team and we'd like to thank all of those who have been a part of the development of the Perot museum. It's an amazing place and such an important new addition to the city of Dallas," said 900lbs president and co-founder Steve Deitz. "We have a great team and it was a solid team effort with our artists employing their many strengths throughout the project."

                      This is our 5th season working with the Mavs and we started off this season with a bang! One of the most popular songs the world has ever witnessed was a natural fit for a Mavericks' spoof! 900lbs and Mavs' Marketing put our heads together to produce one of our special "head over body" videos for PSY's Gangnam Style music video and it has been a big hit, to say the least. Many people have been spoofing Gangnam Style since it's debut but we wanted to put our spin on it. We are lucky to have so many great personalities on the Mavericks' team this year. It's a lot of fun. Enjoy!
