      • The Look & Feel of Film BREAKTHROUGH WEEKEND - From camera test for new NYC detective comedy

        from Sujewa Ekanayake Added 309 2 3

Recently we started testing the Panasonic HMC 40 for possible use on the upcoming feature film Breakthrough Weekend. I wanted to capture rich colors and sharp images. Ease of use during rapidly changing situations was also a requirement for the production camera. The camera was able to capture images with rich colors and overall performed very well. Video was captured at 1080/60i and 1080/24p. This video features a few shots from the tests. Shots are set to music by Kevin MacLeod (www.incompetech.com). Video was edited by James Davis on Final Cut Pro 7, and was color corrected. For more information on Breakthrough Weekend, a detective comedy set in NYC and a story inspired by Jungian psychology, visit the Facebook page for the movie: www.facebook.com/BreakthroughWeekend. - Sujewa Ekanayake, Director of Breakthrough Weekend

from MAPS: Psychedelic Science Added 824 1 0

Implications of Jungian Psychology for Psychedelic Psychotherapy David Lukoff presented on psychotherapeutic methods, based on Jungian theory, for integrating psychedelic experiences that have been problematic for the individual, at times even leading to psychiatric hospitalization. This approach is based on the concept of spiritual emergencies which are crises that include non-ordinary states that in the west would be seen and treated as psychosis and treated with suppressive medication. But using Stanislav Grof’s observations from his study of non-ordinary states and also of diverse spiritual traditions, such episodes can be treated as crises of transformation or crises of spiritual opening. If properly understood and properly supported by the therapist, they are actually conducive to healing and transformation. This video is from Psychedelic Science in the 21st Century, a conference taking in place in San Jose, California on April 15-18, 2010. The conference was organized by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in collaboration with the Heffter Research Institute, the Council on Spiritual Practices, and the Beckley Foundation. http://eomega.org/omega/faculty/viewProfile/b0ab728ba7537d006672a854a9c191f8/ Marion Woodman is a widely read and acclaimed author, a leader in women's spirituality and feminine consciousness, and a Jungian analyst. Internationally acclaimed for her work as a "bridge builder between the male and female worlds," the former high school English and drama teacher has, in the 25 years since she enrolled in Zurich's C.G. Jung Institute, earned a name as a groundbreaking analyst with a rare understanding of the role of the feminine in bringing about personal and cultural transformation. Perhaps best known for her videotaped workshop with men's movement pioneer Robert Bly, Bly and Woodman on Men and Women, she is also the best-selling author of many books, including Addiction to Perfection, The Ravaged Bridegroom: Masculinity in Women, Conscious Femininity, Leaving My Father's House, and, with psychologist Elinor Dickson, Dancing in the Flames: The Black Goddess in the Transformation of Consciousness. In Woodman's presence, the often enigmatic world of Jungian archetypal psychology becomes accessible to anyone, and especially to women who are on a quest for wholeness. Woodman believes that centuries of "patriarchal thinking" have stripped the soul from the inner and outer lives of individuals and in the world. To recover the soul, we must engage with the complex shadow world of the unconscious and go beyond absolute, either/or thinking to embrace the "dance of opposites."
