    Machine Project: Kamau Patton, "Memory and Data Storage" Presented in conjunction with Pacific Standard Time, the project focuses on the Ampex corporation, a patron sponsor of the Art and Technology Program of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 1967-1971. The project is an investigation of Ampex corporate culture and identity in relationship to its role as a manufacturer of memory storage / data storage materials and devices. The project views the Ampex corporate culture through the memories of the people that worked for the company. A collection of interviews, print ads, Internet streams, sound and video recordings were displayed to give context to the role that the Ampex corporation has played in the recording and storage of events in our collective memory. Figures and events included in the presentation are: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Apollo 11 moon landing, The Greatful Dead Europe ’72, Richard Nixon and Nikita Khrushchev debates, The LSD experiments of Martin Stolaroff and Al Hubbard, Alexander M. Poniatoff (Ampex founder), Ed Kuen-Sang Shum, and Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band.
