    • Baysinger Films: Michael and Samantha in Paola, Kansas

The moment I heard that Michael's groom cake was going to be in the shape of a lego brick, I knew this wedding would be full of all sorts of goodness. Anyone who has watched my videos knows I am a huge fan of small towns, and Paola Kansas is no exception. The root of small towns, however, has nothing to do with the towns themselves; it is all about the people. Michael and Samantha are some of the kindest, most genuine folks I have ever met - if you ask any of their friends, they will most certainly agree. While their wedding was full of personal touches - everything from the bridesmaids gifts to the endless supply of Dublin Dr. Pepper for kids - the heart of those gifts is the undeniable fact that Michael and Samantha are both givers. They are about friends, family, and conversation. They are about service and learning, and they are about love. It was an honor to share a weekend with you and yours in Paola. One of these days, we'll have to take an afternoon and build legos while we drink Dr. Pepper - but in the meantime I wish you the best of luck in your new home in Oklahoma. Thank you, and congratulations!

      • Baysinger Films: Ashley and Jim get married in God's Country.

Jason Aldean has a phenomenal song called 'Fly Over States'. It talks about the midwest. It talks about wheat fields, sunsets, dirt roads and slow love. That just about sums up the city of Salina, Kansas - which might be one of my favorite towns in the entire world. There's something real special about Salina, but there is something even more special about Jim and Ashley. Ashley's Dad, Currie, summed up best during his speech. He said, "When you shake Jim's hand, you just get it." I couldn't agree more. Jim and Ashley might really be the nicest folks I have ever met. I know I say things like that whenever I type up these little ditties, but it is really hard to not fall in love with these two. Between their incredible hospitality, their love for Christ, and their love for each other, it is no wonder that these two make such a perfect pair. It's about family, about love, and about living a life of meaning. Ashley and Jim get it, and I feel incredibly blessed just to have played such a small part of their wedding. Thanks for the opportunity to drive through God's country, and for the opportunity to share such an incredible day with you and your families. God is Love.

            • Baysinger Films: Nathan Reynolds and Rachel Billings: Married in Salina

My hope with every couple I meet is that we might have the opportunity to set down over a few meals over the course of their engagement so that we have a great working relationship by the time their wedding rolls around. Even though Rachel and Nate lived in Salina, we had a good six months or so from when we booked until their wedding was to arrive. We had talked about getting together at some point, possibly during one of their KC trips or even out near Salina. Then, on February 22nd, I got this email: Hello Matt! I received some very schedule-conflicting news yesterday. My fiancé received new orders from the Army that will leave him completely unavailable for our wedding on May 24. Obviously he's a pretty important part of the day (haha)- so we've been shuffling our schedules around trying to find a date that will even remotely work. (I'm getting a very nice introduction into Army life, let me tell you! lol) So the weekend we have scheduled for now is March 22-23, still in Salina. (Holy crap... only one month left!) I know this is crazy crazy last minute, short notice -- if you're still available, that would be fantastic. If not, though, I totally and completely understand. It has kind of turned into a shot gun, whirlwind wedding. Looking forward to hearing from you! Rachel _________ By the grace of God, I was available Saturday the 22nd, though I was filming a documentary from the 15th - 20th and also had a wedding on the 21st. But if Rachel and Nate were flexible enough to re-plan an entire wedding in a month, I knew I had to make it work. The crazy part is that everything was perfect. I suppose it fits both Rachel and Nate's personality, in that even if it hadn't been perfect it would have felt perfect. The weather was freezing cold. The dresses had arrived the day before. Nobody was sure who could come and who couldn't They were at a completely different venue and they only had a month to make it all happen. And it was perfect. It was truly an honor to share this incredible day with Nate and Rachel. They made it work - and the beautiful thing about marriage is that sometimes we have to make it work, and these two were able to learn that incredible lesson from day one. A travel-themed wedding in Wichita, Kansas -- everything was based on their mutual love for traveling the globe! They incorporated so many things that were special to them -- from the menu (they love to host parties and cook!) to the table names (all places they've been together!) to favorite treats (ice cream passed out after the ceremony!). Our favorite thing, though? How excited Heidi and Alex were for the PEOPLE who celebrated with them.

It is even more of a joy and honor to have them bring you to their far away wedding! I met Lison and Meg at Meg’s sisters wedding last fall. I was so excited to get the call a few months ago that Meg was planning a wedding this summer to be held on the campus of Notre Dame in Indiana and they wanted me to film it for them. Wow. A little extra wow because Meg and Lison did all their planning from India where they live and work. So very cool. They had friends and family come to celebrate with them from all over the world, and Meg and Lison brought so many special details from their life in India and the Midwest to their wedding. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and giving us the opportunity to help you preserve this amazing day. I do think your first look in the woods was perhaps the most amazing I have ever filmed! Beautiful!
