This took an entire Saturday to do, and was worth every second. The BURN approaches, with less that 3 weeks to go, we have a ton to do.

"Wanderlust" is a fashion short film for Merchants on Long in Cape Town. It is a story of two friends meeting up in the desert for a road trip. Wanderlust is the need to travel and "wonder" to discover. Wanderlust is a german word, and comes from a historic and cultural background where young men would take to the road with a stick and a nap-sack and discover the world by foot. The narrative is short and uncomplicated. Visually pleasing and focusing both on the aesthetic as well as the product. Shot in South Africa and Directed by Ernst Heusser. Camera Work By Peter Sean. Fashion Styling by Tammy Tinker and Location styling by Bernice Raaff. Hair and Makeup By Janine Pritschow. Models are from Full Circle: Gillian King and Simone De Kock

DOCUMENTARY FILM: A rural Karoo family forge their way into modernity after a lifetime of wandering on the road. The story is a humane and soft portrait of a family feeling their way into a modern world. It is the story of an old man who, along with his partner and twelve sons, has spent his entire life on the road, in harsh conditions as South Africa's gypsies. As the old man turns 100 years old, he gets his first ever brick house with a flushing toilet. Electricity and hot water are on the way. Directed and Edited by Timothy Gabb Shot by Timothy Gabb & Russell Bruns Music by Dave Knowles & Mark Petrie Final Mix by Ivo Sissolak

Justin Bonello on Karoo, Land of Thirst: My introduction to the Karoo started some 30 odd years ago when I was a child and my mom was working on two films set on a farm in the Tankwa Karoo. The memories I have from that place are care-free and happy. I remember it as a thriving farm with sheep, pigs, chickens and a full film crew running around while I explored this natural wonder with blissful freedom. I remember swimming in the river and playing with the farm owners’ children and it was just magical for me. Since that time, I’ve always been fascinated by the Karoo and love going there to escape the overstimulation of the city. As a farmer once told me, “This is the place where God comes to think.”

This video focuses on the ride from Prince Alfred to Die Hel (The Hell) via the Swartberg Pass. After leaving the Swartberg Pass it takes 2.5 hours to travel the 37km to Die Hell. This is the only road in or out fo the valley which is a hidden valley, deep in the heart of the formidable Swartberg Mountain Range. The fertile valley runs in an east-west direction and is approximately 20 km long and 600 meters wide. All roads are gravel.

June 2014: I hadn't been back to South Africa for 5 months, working hard in Saudi Arabia since January, allot of factors had to come together in order for myself and Taryn to return to SA for a short holiday! Its wasn't a easy feat, but with the help of our amazing friends back home we could make the dream a reality. We hit the road for 2 weeks, a general outline of where we were headed but no real plan...i reiterate that 'no plan' is the best plan. No expectations and little complications thanks to an amazing bunch of friends who helped make this the most memorable trip I've been on. Venturing through the Klein Karoo and spending some time out in the quiet desert town of Barrydale with my brother Scott and the Magpie family, also happens to be where I asked my amazing girlfriend Taryn to marry me whilst watching the sun rise from the top of a koppie in the Klein Karoo. Along with the best group of friends I could have asked for, to be present in that special moment. Tripping along, out the Desert and down to the Sea where our next stop was in the beautiful Tsitsikamma National Park with our good friends Taryn 'n Jaco. They were kind enough to take us in for the night as well as on a day hike along the Tsitsikamma coast line through forests, rocky cliffs and eventually to the most epic waterfall that pours down right beside the ocean. From here on we spent the rest of endless days and nights surfing and relaxing! Waves were never scarce and each day was an absolute blessing!
