Since 1987, Chai Lifeline and its affiliates' mission has been to restore the light of childhood to children whose innocence ended when life-threatening or lifelong illness was diagnosed. Through programs that address the emotional, social, and financial needs of seriously ill children, their families, and communities, Chai Lifeline restores normalcy to family life, and better enables families to withstand the crises and challenges of serious pediatric illness. Each summer, over 400 seriously ill children are treated to unforgettable, medically supervised overnight camp experiences at Camp Simcha, for children battling cancer and other hematological illnesses, and Camp Simcha Special, for children with debilitating chronic conditions. from RP Imagery Added 265 0 0

The Jacob Stoneking Inaugural Benefit for Candlelighters for Children with Cancer held at Miramont Pointe. This benefit was to honor Jake, and his sole wish to help make a difference for families, like his, facing childhood cancer. The event included Jake's favorite meal - BBQ Potluck style, line-dancing, games, guest speakers, and a raffle auction. Jacob Stoneking, known by family and friends as “Jake”, is the son of Wendy Stoneking, business office director at Miramont Pointe, and an employee for the past eight years. The benefit dinner and party also celebrated Jake’s life and care for others. Jake is facing a terminal form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma and wants to help others by supporting the organization which has brought great comfort and support to him and his family. Every year, Candlelighters helps over a thousand families in Oregon and SW Washington. Thanks to Miramont Pointe Senior Living Community and the folks at The Goodman Group for sponsoring this entire event and their work in acquiring all of the donations from so many different businesses. Drew and I were blown away by the mass amount of people that attended this event and came to honor Jake's wishes. It is so inspiring, and I stand in awe, of an 18 -year-old boy, despite having a terminal illness, beaming with joy and genuine love for everyone around him. Meet the Ruelle Family. 3-year old Saphire was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia one week after her mother, Summar's, diagnosis of Stage 4 Breast Cancer... Together, them and their family have had to go through quite the journey. They have received a various amount of support and services through Candlelighters, which is non-profit organization, providing support to over a thousand families affected by childhood cancer in Oregon and SW Washington. Accepting the opportunity to put together this film, we felt as though we would be offering our services and helping out in the small way that we could... little did we know the effect that this amazing family would have on DREW AND I. Meeting and spending time with the family completely put our own lives into perspective. The hope, love, and amount of strength that Pascal, Summar, Jaden, and Saphire all have despite the circumstances, is so incredible and genuine. We ask that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers; for strength, comfort, faith, hope, and miracles. from St. Baldrick's Foundation Added 219 2 0

http://bit.ly/sbf_avery 175,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year. Their lives drastically change, and many lose the ability to "run, jump, play at the park, ride bikes or scooters." Avery is one of the 175,000 kids. She was diagnosed with pilocytic astrocytoma, a type of childhood brain tumor, in June 2011 at 8 years old. Her attitude about having a brain tumor is, "Some people get cancer and others don't. This is just what I have to deal with." At the St. Baldrick's Foundation, we believe kids shouldn't have to "deal with" cancer. We fund more in childhood cancer research than any other organization except the U.S. government - all made possible by the thousands of St. Baldrick's volunteers around the world who raise money in unique and creative ways (head-shaving being the most popular). It is our hope that one day when a doctor says, "your child has cancer," they'll be able to respond with, "but we have a cure." Join Us: http://bit.ly/SBF_WhyWeExist ****** Music by: Kyle Kilpatrick
