    • Kielder Star Camp Spring 2015 - looking south

      from James Mackay / Added

This is from my first night at the Kielder Star Camp Spring 2015. Unfortunately the time-lapse is afflicted with some jumps due to the camera shutter not firing occasionally but none the less I was quite chuffed to capture a bit of zodiacal light :) I stopped when things clouded over and switched to something else but it was otherwise a nice hour or so. I also didn't do any proper bulb ramping so the transition from almost daylight to night is a little rough but there you go :-) I should point out that while the camera shows some light pollution it's only visible to the eye at the far left corner of the image (approx south east).

Unfortunately this timelapse is plagued with missing frames so is quite jerky in parts but the sight of the Milky Way rising over the forest at Kielder Star Camp was incredible... The time-lapse is looking east and covers approximately 2am through till the end of astronomical twilight at 5:30am.

        • Kielder Star Camp Spring 2015, Time-lapse looking north west

          from James Mackay / Added

After plans to time lapse the whole of Saturday night at the Kielder Spring Star Camp got stymied by cloud, I turned the camera to the northwest and captured a couple of hours of the stars and clouds coming and going. Visually it looked like it was cloudy most of the time but the camera was picking stars up that my eyes couldn't see. I was tempted to run it longer but after three nights of stargazing was exhausted... and a few hours later it was raining anyway...
